Before founding ASA North in two thousand and fifteen, Ahmadreaza studied fine arts and received his masters in archi- tecture from Harvard University in two thousand and eight. Ah- madreza was a project architect at Rem Koolhaas’s OMA*AMO New York office, and oversaw the direction of several projects in the Americas. Prior to joining OMA he was a design architect in Basel, Switzerland and worked on a variety of commissions at the office of Herzog & de Meuron.
Recently Ahmadreza led & completed the design and construc- tion of Argo Contemporary Art Museum & Cultural Centre from his NY studio and on site, during the construction into the first contemporary international art museum to be built in Iran in over fifty years. The expansion converts the 1920’ s Argo Factory— a 375 m2, beer distillery in the heart of Tehran—
into a 1,850 m2 state of the art contemporary museum. Argo Factory was realized between 2016 and 2020, influenced by many of Iran’s economic and politics realities, including crippling sanctions. this uncertainty, the energetic Iranian cultural scene has found a new home for international discourse in the heart of Tehran.
In the summer of 2020, in Tehran, Ahmadreza curated and designed the space for Newsha Tavakolian, renowned Iranian documentary photographer new film. At the moment ASA North is working on Afkhami Virtual Museum for a private collector in Dubai, UAE and also working on the 7,800m2 master plan and design for the Manouchehri Textile Museum will break ground in Kashan, Iran in the summer of 2022.
Born in 1979 in USA and raised in Iran, Iranian - Austrian Architect, Ahmadreza Schricker is a writer and the founder of ASA North, a New York-based international architecture practice that collaborates with artists & writers. ASA North operates within a range of a small private house to the big scale of urban design and has a concentrated interest of innovation in the areas of art, curation, design, fashion, technology, social interaction and life- style. Thus ASA North undertakes projects within the traditional boundaries of architecture and beyond via its Virtual operation at ASA South.
