In 2016, she joined Bricault Design, a Vancouver-based multidisciplinary studio, where she deepened her knowledge of fabrication techniques and led several notable projects, including the Pangea Pod Hotel in Whistler—Canada’s first capsule hotel.
In 2021, Daria founded her eponymous practice, Daria Sheina Studio (DSS), as a platform to explore a more personal and values-driven approach to architecture and design. With an extensive portfolio of work spanning Moscow, New York, London, L.A., São Paulo, and cities across Canada, she brings a globally informed yet locally sensitive perspective to every project.
Her practice is rooted in the belief that design is a journey—one that challenges us to discover ourselves, inspire others, and leave a meaningful mark. Drawing from the interconnectedness of cultural, social, environmental, and technological contexts, she approaches each project with a holistic, collaborative mindset—pushing creative boundaries to deliver design solutions that are responsive, innovative, and uncompromising in quality.
Daria is passionate about architecture and design as a force for good—a way to serve people by creating spaces that positively impact communities and enhance well-being. Her studio is currently engaged in a range of forward-thinking projects, including collaborations with First Nations communities on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, missing middle housing developments in Vancouver, and remote sustainable initiatives across British Columbia.
Born and raised in Moscow, Daria Sheina holds a Master of Architecture from the Moscow Architectural Institute, with a specialty in Residential and Public Buildings. After five years as lead architect at several firms in her home city—including the award-winning FORM Bureau—she moved to Canada to broaden her professional scope and creative outlook.
