The Albignasego Auditorium Theatre was born from the ambition to reinterpret the historical memory of the local rural houses through a contemporary lens, translating the texture of their brickwork into a modern cladding that gives the building a strong and recognizable identity. In this way, the architecture not only establishes a dialogue with the surrounding landscape and the scale of the adjacent urban fabric, but also narrates the history of the place through a contemporary language. Winner of the international competition launched by the Municipality in 2018, the project is part of a broader transformation that began with the creation of the public park and continued—also thanks to PNRR funds—with the construction of the auditorium itself.

Located on a threshold between town and countryside, the building achieves a refined balance between interior and exterior. Large openings and framed views enhance continuity with the surrounding park, while the entrance sequence guides visitors through spaces that compress and expand, generating an emotional progression that culminates in the main hall, where the full breadth of the theatrical space is revealed.

Among the largest in the province, the auditorium is designed to host a wide range of performing arts. Its carefully engineered acoustics and flexible stage mechanics allow for dual orientation—towards the interior and the exterior. The interior walls, clad in tulipwood, create material and compositional rhythms that give the hall a contemporary, warm, and welcoming character.

The architecture extends beyond its performance functions: the foyer becomes a multifunctional social space, ideal for hosting events and gatherings. It integrates a café and independent rehearsal rooms, ensuring that the building remains active and open to the community on a daily basis. The landscape design continues the dialogue with the adjacent park, using native species that reflect seasonal cycles and strengthen the connection between architecture and nature.

The Albignasego Auditorium Theatre is the result of a collective effort involving institutions, technicians, and professionals, conceived to offer the community an inclusive cultural venue capable of inspiring, welcoming, and conveying the collective memory of the area. The project embodies MD41’s commitment to merging contemporaneity, functionality, and social sensitivity, transforming architecture into a living, participatory, and deeply integrated experience within its territory.

Il Teatro Auditorium di Albignasego nasce dall’ambizione di reinterpretare in chiave contemporanea la memoria storica dei casolari locali, traducendo le trame dei loro mattoni in un rivestimento contemporaneo che conferisce all’edificio un’identità forte e riconoscibile. Così, l’architettura non solo dialoga con il paesaggio circostante e con la scala del tessuto urbano adiacente, ma racconta anche la storia del luogo attraverso un linguaggio contemporaneo. Vincitore del concorso internazionale indetto dal Comune nel 2018, il progetto si inserisce in un percorso più ampio, iniziato con la realizzazione del parco pubblico e proseguito, grazie anche ai fondi del PNRR, con la costruzione dell’auditorium stesso.

Collocato in una zona di confine tra città e campagna, l’edificio stabilisce un equilibrio raffinato tra interno ed esterno. Grandi aperture e visuali prospettiche valorizzano la continuità con il parco circostante, mentre il percorso d’ingresso accompagna lo spettatore attraverso spazi che si comprimono e si aprono, creando una tensione emotiva che culmina nella sala principale, dove l’ampiezza dello spazio teatrale si svela con piena imponenza.

Tra i più grandi della provincia, l’auditorium è concepito per ospitare una molteplicità di arti performative, grazie a un’acustica calibrata e a una meccanica scenica flessibile che consente un doppio affaccio interno ed esterno. Le pareti interne, rivestite in legno di toulipier, scandiscono ritmi materici e compositivi, conferendo alla sala un carattere contemporaneo, caldo e accogliente.

L’architettura si estende oltre le funzioni performative: il foyer diventa uno spazio sociale polifunzionale, capace di ospitare eventi e incontri, integrando caffetteria e sale prove autonome, mantenendo l’edificio quotidianamente vivo e partecipato dalla comunità. Il progetto del landscape si sviluppa in continuità con il parco, utilizzando specie autoctone che segnano il ritmo delle stagioni e rafforzano il legame tra architettura e natura.

Il Teatro Auditorium di Albignasego è il risultato di un lavoro collettivo tra istituzioni, tecnici e professionisti, pensato per offrire alla comunità uno spazio culturale inclusivo, capace di emozionare, accogliere e raccontare la memoria collettiva del luogo. L’opera testimonia l’impegno dello studio MD41 nel coniugare contemporaneità, funzionalità e sensibilità sociale, trasformando l’architettura in un’esperienza viva, partecipata e profondamente integrata nel territorio.
