A 70-Square-Meter Residence Designed for Multigenerational Living Taipei / 2021
This 70-square-meter residence was designed for a multigenerational family, with the aim of reconnecting everyday life through light, movement, and spatial continuity.
Rather than dividing the home into conventional rooms, the design adopts an open-plan strategy to create a continuous spatial framework that accommodates different generations and patterns of daily life. Light lines, circulation paths, and integrated furniture are carefully composed to establish visual connections while maintaining the privacy and independence of each space.
The layout prioritizes accessibility, safety, and ease of interaction, allowing movement to flow naturally between the living, dining, kitchen, and private areas. Continuous sightlines and barrier-free transitions create a sense of openness, while changes in scale, material, and light subtly define different zones within the home.
The result is a calm and adaptable residence where spatial boundaries become less rigid, encouraging communication, movement, and shared moments while supporting the changing needs of a multigenerational household.
