LB Apartment is a 140 sqm residential renovation project located in Catania, Sicily, designed by LAVICA architecture | design for a family of three.

The project focuses on redefining spatial distribution and enhancing the living area, while preserving the existing kitchen systems. The client’s request included the creation of two bathrooms and a dedicated laundry area, combined with a strong desire for a distinctive and memorable spatial experience.

The design concept is based on the transformation of a functional constraint into a defining architectural element. The corridor, typically a transitional space, becomes a central feature of the project: treated as an immersive architectural installation, it is characterized by continuous grey resin surfaces applied to floors, walls and ceiling. This material continuity generates a strong visual identity and guides the user through the apartment, creating a fluid and experiential spatial sequence.

The living area is conceived as an open and dynamic space, where the kitchen is slightly elevated to establish a subtle separation from the living room, introducing a variation in levels that enhances spatial perception.

The layout has been completely reconfigured to include a master bathroom connected to the main bedroom, a secondary bathroom serving the additional bedroom, and a compact, concealed laundry area designed to integrate seamlessly within the overall composition.

In the child’s bedroom, custom-made furniture solutions optimize space, reducing essential elements to a minimum and allowing greater freedom for play and movement.

The project is defined by a coherent material and color palette, ensuring visual continuity throughout the apartment. LAVICA curated the project in all its phases, including interior design, lighting design, bespoke furniture, and the selection of finishes, decorations and artworks, delivering a complete and integrated design approach.
