A Hospitality Interior Shaped by Raw Materials and Spatial Continuity Changhua / Taiwan / 2021
H.S.S. Hotel is a hospitality interior located in Changhua, Taiwan, near the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park. The design responds to the character of the surrounding industrial landscape through a restrained palette of raw materials, spatial continuity, and controlled light.
Concrete, wood, metal, and glass are composed to create a quiet yet tactile interior, allowing material texture and construction details to become part of the spatial experience. Rather than relying on decorative elements, the design establishes atmosphere through contrast, depth, and the relationship between solid and transparent surfaces.
The circulation is organized as a continuous sequence of spaces, gradually shifting between darker and brighter areas. Exposed concrete surfaces and dark timber create a sense of weight and enclosure, while glass and carefully positioned openings introduce light and visual connections.
The result is a restrained hospitality environment where raw materials, filtered light, and spatial continuity work together to create an atmosphere closely connected to its industrial context.
