The Natural History Museum Oslo, the oldest and largest museum of its kind in Norway, has been a landmark institution since 1814. Located in the heart of Oslo, it offers an expansive 2,000 square meters of space, taking visitors on a remarkable journey through 4.5 billion years of natural history. Atelier Brückner was commissioned to reinvent the exhibition concept. The newly designed exhibition features Norway's largest collection of scientific artifacts, showcased across seven innovatively curated permanent displays. We realized all custom-made display cases, tables, and presentation furniture, including interactive tables, 3D globe models and pedestals for exhibits up to 5 meters in length. A standout feature is the Crystal Cave in the basement, conceived as an immersive experience with asymmetrically shaped exhibition walls and integrated display cases. The walls are constructed from drywall, and the ceilings are designed as suspended elements.
