As the first headquarters for Musinsa, a fashion commerce platform experiencing multidimensional growth, the project aimed to consolidate the company’s previously dispersed offices. The design needed to accommodate the fluidity of the growing team and organizational changes, while reflecting Musinsa's characteristic neutral and minimalist sense.

Office plan

The given building has a square-shaped floor plan with loosely defined spaces between inner and outer spaces. The design approach began by considering centrifugal and centripetal forces. Centrifugal force refers to the natural pull toward bright spaces near the windows. The opposing concept is centripetal force, which functions as a cross point for the traffic of individuals, even in the deficiency of natural light. Since this space is positioned at an equal distance from the perimeter zone, all resources placed here are shared fairly among all individuals. By placing areas such as the canteen and meeting rooms in this central space and linking it with elevator and restroom routes, a cohesive centripetal zone is created.

Calm workspaces and dynamic shared spaces located in the center are positioned in close proximity. Nevertheless, an appropriate psychological distance is maintained between the two spaces. This enables the 'rapid mode shifts', which is deemed essential in contemporary office environments. This shift was initiated by alley-like corridors formed between the volumes, enabling the two contrasting areas to interact with each other. Multiple pathways are organized closely, allowing individuals to proactively choose their routes based on circumstances and preferences.
