In this residence in the heart of Oviedo, the atmosphere takes centre stage over the space itself. The textures of oak wood and the use of a single taupe grey shade create a serene yet warm enclosure.

The L-shaped corridor structures the home’s layout and defines its spatial organisation. On one side, three rooms open towards the communal area, separated by a glazed screen that both divides and connects the spaces. Two of these rooms are designed for the children, while the third functions as a flexible space—serving as a second living area, study, or reading room. On the other side, the master suite is set apart in a more private wing, flanked by a study, a walk-in wardrobe, and a small office adjacent to the laundry area, seamlessly integrated along the hallway.

The communal area is conceived as a large open space where the kitchen, dining, and living areas coexist without hierarchy. At its centre, a custom-made dining table interlocks with a built-in bookcase, reinforcing the idea of an interior where furniture is not merely functional but an architectural element in itself. The kitchen builds on this concept, incorporating the solidity of stone into the material dialogue. 

More than just an extension, the terrace becomes a natural continuation of the interior. Its floors and walls are clad in thermally treated ash, creating a seamless surface that extends from a built-in bench to a large planter. The connection with the interior is established through two expansive windows, whose frames double as seating.

Far from being a purely functional proposal, this home breathes through its atmosphere. Gestures such as exposing structural pillars or the strategic use of decorative lighting reinforce this notion, creating subtle accents that enhance the space without overpowering it.

En este apartamento en el corazón de Oviedo, la atmósfera toma protagonismo sobre el espacio en sí. A través de las texturas naturales de la madera de roble y el uso de un único color gris topo se construye una envolvente contenida y cálida.

El pasillo, con su disposición en L, articula el recorrido de la vivienda y determina su estructura espacial. En un ala, tres estancias se abren hacia la zona común, separada por una celosía acristalada que tanto aísla como conecta los espacios. Dos de las habitaciones están destinadas a los hijos, mientras que la tercera es un espacio híbrido, concebido como una segunda zona de estar, despacho o lectura. En la otra ala, la suite principal se repliega en un entorno más reservado, flanqueada por un despacho, un vestidor y un pequeño office junto a la zona de lavado, integrada a lo largo del distribuidor.

La zona común se concibe como un gran espacio abierto, donde cocina, comedor y sala de estar conviven sin ningún tipo de jerarquía. En el centro, una mesa hecha a medida se entrelaza con un mueble-estantería, reforzando la idea de un interior donde el mobiliario no es solo una pieza funcional, sino un elemento arquitectónico más. Asimismo, la cocina sintetiza esta idea incorporando al discurso la solidez de la piedra.

Más que un simple anexo, la terraza se convierte en una prolongación natural del interior. Suelo y paramentos se revisten en fresno termotratado, generando una piel continua que abraza desde una zona de comedor exterior hasta una gran jardinera. La conexión con el interior se produce a través de dos grandes ventanales cuyos marcos hacen las veces de asiento. 

Lejos de una propuesta meramente práctica, esta vivienda respira a través de su atmósfera. Gestos como el de dejar los pilares estructurales vistos o el uso estratégico de iluminación decorativa refuerzan esta noción, generando acentos sutiles que enriquecen sin imponerse.
