Modern House in Pilará, Pilar. Pilar / Argentina / 2024
Located on a plot with open views and a serene setting in Pilar, this residence explores the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces through strategically placed patios that shape the design and enhance natural light and cross ventilation.
The main entrance is positioned at the center of the plot, where an interior patio, defined by a vertical wooden enclosure, creates a transition between the exterior and interior. This space welcomes visitors into the social area on the ground floor, the core of the project, organized under an open-plan concept that integrates the living room, dining room, and kitchen. From this central space, the four patios surrounding the house are visible: to the south, the entrance patio; to the east, a service patio visually connected to the kitchen; to the west, a patio marking the end of an internal circulation path; and to the north, the main patio, which extends to a gallery and the garden, culminating in a clean-edged pool.
The gallery, conceived as an intermediate space, facilitates a seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces, while large openings frame the surrounding landscape and allow abundant daylight to filter through. This design not only connects the inhabitants to their environment but also enhances the home’s thermal and energy efficiency.
On the upper floor, the private program is divided into two clearly defined sections. On one side, the master suite offers direct views of the garden, while on the other, the secondary bedrooms are connected by a central living area that opens to an internal patio. This central space not only organizes the layout but also reinforces the presence of greenery as a central element of the design.
The project incorporates green terraces on the upper level, which not only extend the interaction with vegetation but also balance the use of materials such as concrete, creating a warmer and more natural atmosphere.
Casa Patios presents an architecture where patios and terraces are not merely functional elements but also design tools that blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a spatial experience in constant dialogue with nature.
