After a thorough analysis of the resources and challenges of the territory, the project proposes a building that becomes a catalyst for the revival of the local community.

The construction of the new center, dedicated to family services, represents an opportunity to initiate virtuous development dynamics and offer the community of Rosello and surrounding areas much-needed social gathering spaces. The design choices aim to enhance the relationship with the context, with particular attention to the proximity of Rosello’s historic center and the Abetina di Rosello Regional Reserve.

The building spans an area of 900 square meters, distributed across two levels. The chosen materials – wood and stone – respect the local building tradition, while the open, fluid layout revolves around a central courtyard, enclosed by glass walls, conceived as a luminous oasis and symbolizing an inclusive, natural place. The façades open up to the landscape through thin glass slits, creating a dialogue between the solidity of the volume and the lightness of the transparencies, as well as a play of light and shadow that mirrors the forest’s patterns. The roof, resembling the shape of a leaf, rests on vertical columns that reflect the dense forest canopy. The ground floor hosts five workshops dedicated to recreational and playful activities. Three of these open onto a terrace that blends harmoniously with the external panorama, offering a view of the surrounding garden and the Abetina forest.

The heart of the project is a central void that spans both levels, creating a cloister where vegetation will grow, and an art installation will be placed as a symbol of the predominant relationship with nature. The connective spaces are arranged around this area to emphasize the link with the natural environment.

In the basement, there is a nursery area, with space for breastfeeding and rest, and a spacious room that overlooks the park through large windows. The park is also accessible via an external staircase connecting it to the street level, creating a space for meeting and socializing.

The transparent walls create a continuous dialogue between the interior and the exterior, with views of the green reserve and the central courtyard, conceived as a protected habitat. The transparent handrails of the stairs ensure visual continuity between the indoor and outdoor spaces, highlighting the connection between the architecture and the land. The environment is permeable and welcoming, inviting immediate contact with the landscape and the activities housed within.

The surrounding garden is conceived as a natural extension of the center, accessible from inside the building and via a lateral stone staircase. This area also includes an open-air amphitheater, designed to host social and cultural activities, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy the view of the Abetina Reserve.

The combination of enclosed and open spaces, the selection of materials, and the attention to the context make the project an example of educational and sustainable architecture, capable of promoting environmental awareness and social relationships.
