Nestled on a gentle hillside above Cala de la Fustera in Benissa, The Joya is a 250 m² villa
that celebrates Spanish vernacular architecture through a contemporary lens. The three
interconnected volumes—Llobella, Pinets and Basettes—are arranged around a central
courtyard, creating intimate outdoor “rooms” framed by whitewashed walls, local stone
accents and timber beams. A vaulted naya (14 × 3 m covered terrace) anchors the living
areas, its slender oak columns and handcrafted clay-tile roof inviting morning light and sea
breezes into the open-plan lounge and dining space.
Inside, earth-toned lime plaster walls and oiled oak floors form a neutral canvas for
thoughtfully curated vintage furnishings and bespoke joinery. The bridal suite’s
freestanding bathtub sits beneath a picture-window portal to the valley, while SMEG-
equipped kitchens link indoor elegance with al fresco conviviality. Original Catalan
vaulting subtly defines the three private sleeping wings: two ground-floor apartments
opening directly onto the heated pool terrace, and the first-floor apartment with
panoramic sea vistas.
Throughout, details such as gently arched doorways, linen draperies and a hand-drummed
gong contribute a tactile warmth, while strategically placed sliding glass panels dissolve
boundaries between interior and exterior. With its blend of authentic charm and modern
comforts, The Joya offers a harmonious retreat that adapts effortlessly to both large
gatherings and moments of quiet reflection.
