The proposal addresses an office program within the context of the Tabernas Desert. It is a project of landscape order, where architecture plays an instrumental role within the framework imposed by the landscape, climate, and horizon. 

Typologically, a series of prisms arranged in a comb-like formation are organically scattered across the terrain, responding to its topographical and formal conditions. Like the spaces between the fingers of an open hand, exterior areas emerge between the blocks, introducing light and views so that from any point in the complex, the horizon and the sea can be enjoyed.

The building’s appearance changes as one moves around it and approaches its entrance. Inside the lobby, the same façades facing the sea unfold. Visitors might wonder: Do we have to go back inside? This space, conceived as the convergence of the office wings around an interior void, creates a spatial experience filled with shifting perspectives, intersecting lines, and unexpected light, inviting a surprising perception of space. A new dialogue emerges between interior and exterior, work and rest, private and public.

This interplay of solids and voids, light and shadow, levels and lines will be the lasting impression for visitors passing through the building.

The design of the office floor follows a flexible and modular layout, creating a transparent and open landscape that promotes communication and teamwork conditions. Meeting rooms and social areas are located at the ends of the wings, ensuring equal conditions for all occupants. Workstations, situated in the central sections of the wings, open onto patios facing the horizon, while at the ends, meeting rooms overlook either the sea or the lobby, ensuring their shared use by all throughout the day. The competition brief specified that “…there will be no privileged areas”; the solution was to make every area equally significant. 

The proposal embodies an underlying idea of constructive rigor and efficiency, materialized through a simple geometry designed to rationalize construction and optimize natural resources. 

Due to Almeria’s climatic conditions, solar protection design is central to the building’s energy optimization and the quality of its interior lighting.

A dual system of vertical aluminium louvers, configured differently depending on façade orientation, protects the interior from direct solar radiation while optimizing lighting and views. Along the building’s perimeter, prefabricated concrete overhangs contribute to solar protection and extend workspaces into the outdoors. The resulting ensemble presents a transparent image, generating a dynamic interplay of velvety colours throughout the day. 

More than 2,000 workers carry out their daily activities on this new campus, which features over 2 hectares of landscaped outdoor spaces, including gardens, plazas, and sports areas, designed to enhance the connection with the spectacular setting where the sea and desert merge.

La propuesta resuelve un programa de oficinas en el contexto del desierto de Tabernas. Se trata de un proyecto de orden paisajístico, donde la arquitectura juega un papel instrumental dentro del orden que el paisaje, el clima y el horizonte imponen.

Tipológicamente, una serie de prismas dispuestos en forma de peine, se desordenan orgánicamente sobre el terreno respondiendo a sus condiciones topográficas y formales. Como entre los dedos de una mano abierta, aparecen una serie de espacios exteriores entre los bloques para introducir luz y vistas, de manera que desde cualquier punto del conjunto se pueda disfrutar del horizonte y del mar.

La imagen del edificio va cambiando a medida que este se rodea para acercarse a su acceso. Dentro del vestíbulo, se despliegan las mismas fachadas que dan al mar. El visitante se preguntará ¿pero hay que volver a entrar? Este espacio, concebido como la reunión de los brazos de oficina sobre un espacio interior, provoca una experiencia espacial llena de perspectivas cambiantes, líneas que se cruzan y luces inesperadas que invitan a componer el espacio de una manera sorprendente, en donde se produce un nuevo diálogo entre interior y exterior, trabajo y descanso, privado y público.

Este juego de llenos y vacíos, luces y sombras, niveles y líneas, será la imagen que retengan en la memoria los visitantes que pasen por el edificio.

La planta de oficinas se ha concebido sobre un esquema flexible y modular, sobre el que se despliega un paisaje transparente y abierto que fomenta la comunicación y las condiciones del trabajo en grupo. En las cabezas de los brazos se sitúan las salas de reuniones y zonas de socialización, con lo que se consigue igualar la situación de todos los ocupantes del edificio: Los puestos de trabajo, ubicados en las partes centrales de los brazos, se asoman a los patios abiertos al horizonte, mientras que, en los extremos, las salas de reuniones, volcadas hacia las vistas al mar o al vestíbulo, serán utilizadas equitativamente por todos en algún momento del día. El programa del concurso establecía que “…no habrá zona noble”; la solución fue que todas lo sean.

En la propuesta subyace la idea de rigor constructivo, de eficacia, apuntalada sobre una geometría sencilla que pretende racionalizar la construcción y aprovechar los recursos naturales.

Debido a las condiciones climáticas de Almería, el diseño de las protecciones solares es central en la optimización energética y en la calidad de la iluminación interior del edificio.

Un sistema doble de lamas de aluminio verticales, combinadas de distintos modos según la orientación de la fachada, protege el interior de la radiación solar directa y optimiza la iluminación y las vistas hacia el exterior. En el perímetro del edificio, voladizos de hormigón prefabricado contribuyen a la protección solar y permiten extender los espacios de trabajo al exterior. El conjunto resultante ofrece una imagen transparente y genera un dinámico juego de colores aterciopelados durante el día.

Más de 2000 trabajadores desarrollan su vida cotidiana en este nuevo campus, que cuenta con más de 2ha de espacios exteriores ordenados con jardines, plazas y zonas deportivas, estudiadas para fomentar la identificación con el espectacular paisaje que funde el mar y el desierto.

Der Vorschlag sieht ein Büroprogramm im Kontext der Wüste von „Tabernas“ vor. Die Landschaftsordnung bildet das Projekt, die Architektur spielt eine instrumentelle Rolle innerhalb der von der Landschaft, dem Klima und dem Horizont vorgegebenen Ordnung.

Aus typologischem Gesichtspunkt, ordnen sich eine Reihe von Prismen in Kammform, organisch auf dem Gelände an, als Lösung seiner topographischen und formalen Bedingungen. Wie zwischen den Fingern einer offenen Hand erscheinen zwischen den Gebäuden eine Reihe von Außenräumen, die Licht und Ausblicke ermöglichen, so dass man von jedem Punkt des Komplexes aus, den Horizont und das Meer genießen kann.

Der Anblick des Gebäudes ist wechselnd, wenn man um das Gebäude herumgeht und sich seinem Eingang nähert. Im Inneren des Foyers entfalten sich dieselben Fassaden, die dem Meer zugewandt sind. Der Besucher wird sich fragen, ob er wieder in das Gebäude eintreten muss. Dieser Raum, das Foyer, in dem die Büroarme zusammentreffen, erweckt eine räumliche Erfahrung voller wechselnder Perspektiven, sich kreuzender Linien und unerwarteter Lichter, die dazu einladen, den Raum auf überraschende Weise zu erleben. Es entsteht hier ein neuer Dialog zwischen Innen und Außen, Arbeit und Ruhe, privat und öffentlichen Bereichen.

Dieses Spiel von Volle und Leere, Licht und Schatten, Ebenen und Linien wird das Bild formen, das die Besucher, die das Gebäude durchqueren, in Erinnerung behalten werden.

Der Grundriss der Büros wurde nach einem flexiblen und modularen Schema konzipiert, auf dem sich eine transparente und offene Landschaft entfaltet, um die Kommunikation und die Bedingungen für Gruppenarbeit zu fördern. Die Besprechungsräume und Bereiche zum sozialisieren befinden sich an den Enden der Arme, so dass alle Nutzer des Gebäudes gleichberechtigt sind: Die Arbeitsplätze in der Mitte der Arme blicken auf die zum Horizont hin offenen Höfe, während die Besprechungsräume an den Enden mit Blick auf das Meer oder die Lobby zu bestimmten Tageszeiten von allen gleichermaßen genutzt werden. Im Wettbewerbsprogramm hieß es: „...es wird keinen noblen Bereich geben“; die Lösung bestand darin, alle Bereiche in noble Bereiche umzuformen.

Dem Vorschlag liegt die Idee der konstruktiven Disziplin und Effizienz zugrunde, die durch eine einfache Geometrie verwirklicht wird, die auf eine rationelle Konstruktion und eine optimale Nutzung der natürlichen Ressourcen abzielt.

Aufgrund der klimatischen Bedingungen in Almeria ist die Gestaltung des Sonnenschutzes von zentraler Bedeutung für die Energieoptimierung und die Qualität der Innenbeleuchtung des Gebäudes.

Ein Doppelsystem aus vertikalen Aluminiumlamellen, die je nach Ausrichtung der Fassade unterschiedlich kombiniert werden, schützt die Innenräume vor direkter Sonneneinstrahlung und optimiert die Beleuchtung und den Blick nach draußen. Am äussere Perimeter des Gebäudes tragen vorgefertigte Betonauskragungen zum Sonnenschutz bei und ermöglichen die Erweiterung der Arbeitsräume nach außen. Das so entstandene Ensemble bietet ein transparentes Bild und erzeugt tagsüber ein dynamisches Spiel von samtigen Farben.

Mehr als 2.000 Beschäftigte gehen auf diesem neuen Campus ihrem täglichen Leben nach. Die mehr als 2 ha großen Außenanlagen mit Gärten, Plätzen und Sportbereichen sollen die Identifikation mit der spektakulären Landschaft, die Meer und Wüste verbindet, fördern.
