Nestled in Nad Al Sheba district, Gerbou (mea- ning “Welcome to our humble abode” in Ara- bic) is a restaurant that pays tribute to Emirati architecture.

Inspired by local culture, all the way to the patio, the layout is a perfect blend of traditional elements and sophisticated modernity.

Kristina Zanic Consultants, in collaboration with Tasmeem Tashkeel, have created a ho- mage to the region’s flora and fauna, featuring fish-scale lighting, camel leather sofas, chairs made from ghaf trees, and more. All this, with a natural feel and a surprising sense of contemporaneity.

The design is a wonderful reflection of the restaurant’s cuisine, made from 70% locally sourced ingredients.

At Gerbou, Chef Ionel Catau carefully couples ancestral flavours with innovative techniques, a pairing that is echoed in the establishment’s décor. The whole is a wonderful illustration of

Emirati hospitality.

Installé au cœur du quartier de Nad al Sheba, « Bienvenue dans notre humble demeure » (Gerbou en arabe) est un restaurant qui rend grâce à l’architecture émiratie originale.

Inspiré de culture vernaculaire, jusqu’au patio, l’aménagement allie parfaitement éléments traditionnels et modernité sophistiquée. Kristina Zanic Consultants, en collaboration avec Tasmeem Tashkeel, signe un hommage à la faune et à la flore de la région en imaginantdes luminaires à partir d’écailles de poisson, des canapés en cuir de chameau, des chaises en bois de ghaf... Avec un naturel et un sens surprenant de la contemporanéité.

Un design qui se fait donc un bel écho de la cuisine de l’établissement, car plus de 70 % des produits sont issus de sources locales.

À Gerbou, le chef Ionel Catau mêle avec soin saveurs patrimoniales et techniques inno- vantes, à l’image de son décor.
