Hotel Schwarzer Adler | G22 Projects

The historic building, with parts dating back to the 15th
century, is located at the town square, in close proximity to
the Holy Spirit Hospital Church and the Zwölferturm.
The plan was to revitalize the historic old town center of
Sterzing through the Hotel Schwarzer Adler, a 4-star hotel
with 28 rooms.
The new rooms, apartments, and common areas were
designed to harmonize with the historic building, creating a
charming fusion of antique and modern elements.
Special attention has been given to integrating the existing
structure into the new vision in a tasteful manner which was a
challenge, because we had to evaluate which features should
listed historic „Schwemme“ (old tavern area)—a dining room
with listed furniture, a bar, and storage areas for skis and
bicycles.
The building’s outline, overall appearance, and the north,
east, and south façades are completely preserved.
Wheelchair access to the ground floor is provided through
a second entrance, as the listed entrances from the town
square require stairs.
Within the ground floor, various ramps have been installed,
and floor levels are adjusted to ensure full accessibility to all
guest areas.
