ToMi Negroni Bar with italian character in Moscow

ToMi Negroni Bar, a 62 m² intimate venue in the heart of Moscow, has opened its doors on Malaya Bronnaya. Designed by S+S (Sundukovy Sisters) Design & Architecture Studio, the interior explores a refined dialogue between classic Italian Art Nouveau, urban street art, and the laid-back ritual of the aperitivo. The name ToMi references the route from Turin to Milan, evoking the spirit of Northern Italy and the historic cycling race that once connected the two cities. This narrative unfolds through shifting rhythms, moods, and layered visual cues throughout the space.

Spatial geometry
Despite its elongated layout and single window, the interior feels cohesive and open. Reflections play a key role in shaping the space: a large mirror behind the bar counter visually extends the room and amplifies light. The bar itself, sculpted from polished green marble, forms the spatial and visual anchor. On the guest side, the counter is slightly lowered for added comfort. Above it, a slender column rises into the ceiling; its mirrored reflection creates a perfect circle that sets the spatial rhythm.

Function as aesthetic
A sweeping velvet sofa runs along one wall, divided into modular sections — each with its own scale, proportions, and detailing. The black-and-white granite mosaic flooring brings structure and continuity from the ground up, adding a sense of graphic order. Curves and lines subtly reference the Liberty style, interpreted here with restraint and a contemporary edge.

Throughout the day, ToMi Negroni is a bright, relaxed setting for slow aperitivos. By night, the atmosphere transforms: deeper colors, accent lighting, and soft shadows shift the mood. Select art pieces become more expressive under focused lighting, revealing hidden, playful details.

Material language and layers
Graphic inlays in the upholstered seating introduce a sense of movement without overpowering the space. The walls are finished by hand with artisanal plasterwork, providing a textured backdrop for decorative elements inspired by Italian culture. Carved glass tabletops, a warm-toned wooden wine cabinet, and lush greenery add tactile richness and visual depth.

Even the restrooms echo the overarching concept. One is clad in natural wood, offering an inviting, cocooning atmosphere; the other glows in gold. Both reinterpret ornamental Art Nouveau motifs — each with its own emotional register.
