Lavris Hotel 5* | A2G Architects
Gouves / Greece / 2020
Lavris Hotel is nestled within a 4,700 square meter olive grove, offering a serene and natural setting for guests. The project involves constructing a new wing of 32 rooms, seamlessly integrating with the larger hotel complex while enhancing the overall guest experience. The primary objective of the hotel expansion was to create a simple architectural form that could serve as a module for future additional wings. The design features a two-story L-shaped white volume that wraps around a dark midnight pool, blending harmoniously with the lush environment of the olive grove.A striking design feature is the pool’s reflective quality, which creates a symmetrical mirroring effect. In calm, windless weather, the building appears to double in size as it reflects in the pool water, creating illusions of infinity and blending real and imagined spaces. This play on symmetry and reflection is a central theme in the hotel’s design. The facades of the new wing are adorned with white PVC partition panels featuring bubble cutouts, wooden sliding sun shades, and sharp peaked sculptural roofs. The south facade showcases a sequence of ground-floor rooms with swim-up access to the pool and sun-bathed verandas on the top floor. This design emphasizes an open connection to the natural surroundings. In contrast, the north and east facades present narrow elongated openings, sail-like fabric shades, and large uninterrupted white volumes, providing a different yet cohesive architectural expression.Inside the rooms, guests will find mosaic floors, oak panels and furniture, and textured concrete walls that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. A contemporary barn door serves as a focal point, sliding to reveal either the glass shower or the vanity area, adding a modern touch to the rustic elegance of the interiors.
