The project involved the complete renovation of a 19th-century townhouse located on Place du Guignier in Paris’s 20th arrondissement, for Hugo Marchand and Arturo Arita.

Built in 1870, this 350 m² residence, extended by a 150 m² garden, underwent significant structural transformations: a vertical extension with the addition of a second floor and terrace, conversion of the basement, the creation of a ribbon-like staircase running through the house, and new openings to flood the interiors with natural light. The garden, designed by landscape architect Laurent Douvenou, provides a tropical atmosphere with ferns, palm trees, ponds, and terracotta paving.

The interior design is inspired by the great French decorators of the 1930s and 1940s—Poillerat, Arbus, du Plantier—as well as by the neoclassical references of 19th-century Parisian townhouses. The project was shaped through a close dialogue with Hugo Marchand, Artistic Director at Louboutin and a passionate collector of decorative arts, who already owned a remarkable collection of furniture and objects. Many bespoke elements were designed, including fireplaces, beds, banquettes, mosaics, and stone layouts. We collaborated with exceptional artisans to bring every detail to life.

Le projet porte sur la rénovation complète d’un hôtel particulier du XIXᵉ siècle situé place du Guignier dans le XXᵉ arrondissement de Paris, pour Hugo Marchand et Arturo Arita.

Construit en 1870, cet édifice de 350 m², prolongé par un jardin de 150 m², a fait l’objet de modifications structurelles importantes: surélévation avec création d’un second étage et d’une terrasse, aménagement du sous-sol, percée d’un escalier traversant la maison comme un ruban, ouverture de baies pour inonder les pièces de lumière. Le jardin, conçu par le paysagiste Laurent Douvenou, offre une respiration tropicale avec fougères, palmiers, bassins et sols en terre cuite.

L’architecture intérieure s’inspire des grands décorateurs français des années 1930 et 1940 – Poillerat, Arbus, du Plantier – et des références néoclassiques des hôtels particuliers du XIXᵉ siècle. Le projet s’est construit au fil d’un dialogue étroit avec Hugo Marchand, directeur artistique de la maison Louboutin et passionné d’arts décoratifs, qui possédait déjà une remarquable collection de meubles et d’objets. De nombreux éléments ont été dessinés sur mesure : cheminées, lits, banquettes, mosaïques, calepinages en pierre. Nous avons collaboré avec des artisans d’exception afin de donner vie à chaque détail.
