Vivienda en Marvá | Xarquitectos
Valencia / Spain / 2025
With a serene outlook and meticulous attention to detail, the Valencia-based studio
x.arquitectos delivers a full renovation that transforms a pre-existing apartment into a
contemporary, warm, and deeply contextual home. Located opposite the iconic Finca Roja in
the heart of Valencia, the Marvá project redefines the balance between functionality,
craftsmanship, and timeless design.
From the moment you step inside, the apartment unfolds as a manifesto of calm and
coherence. Lime plaster covers walls and ceilings, bringing a subtle, natural texture that
reinforces the feeling of refined shelter. Underfoot, continuous French oak flooring warms the
space, while natural light — the project’s silent protagonist — gently washes over each surface.
x.arquitectos s presents a neutral aesthetic language here, where noble materials are not mere
ornamentation, but the very foundation of the spatial experience. The furnishings, carefully
curated, balance iconic pieces of international design with artisanal objects rooted in local
tradition. In the living room, a generously proportioned Joquer sofa is paired with a Jean Prouvé
coffee table, while two Eames Lounge Chairs offer elegance and a clear invitation to rest. A
soft-toned rug frames the area, visually anchoring the space without interrupting its flow.
The dining area becomes another focal point, presided over by a sculptural red table by Carlo
Scarpa for Cassina. It introduces a subtle yet powerful narrative through form and color.
Surrounding elements — seating and lighting from Santa & Cole — complement without
competing, selected for their warmth and understated character.
The kitchen is defined by a striking island in Living Ceramics porcelain, a material chosen for
its resistance, elegance, and easy maintenance. The same surface continues through built-in
benches indoors and out, offering visual unity and tactile consistency. In the bathrooms, the
Frame collection — designed by x.arquitectos for Resigres — features natural oak and
porcelain stoneware, complementing the rest of the home’s material palette. Details such as
brushed stainless steel taps and handles by Formani reinforce the quiet elegance that defines
the entire project.
One of the most poetic gestures lies in the seamless transition between interior and exterior. A
continuous bench connects both areas, blurring boundaries and embracing the privileged
views of the city. On the terrace, Vitra furniture and Marset lighting extend the interior’s quiet
sophistication outdoors. Handmade ceramic vases by Canoa Lab are scattered throughout the
home, anchoring the design in Mediterranean artisanal culture.
Natural linen curtains filter light with a soft, fluid texture, offering privacy without compromising
brightness. Technical lighting by Arkos Light is integrated with precision, enhancing volumes
and surfaces without disturbing the project’s visual harmony.
Led by Ernesto Correa and Patricia Maldonado, co-founders of x.arquitectos, this project is
more than a renovation — it is a statement of intent. Marvá doesn’t merely modernize an existing
home; it transforms it into a deeply livable, intimate space with a powerful sense of place. Every
decision — from the flooring to the smallest hardware detail — reflects a contemporary
sensitivity that values both function and emotion.
