The project transforms the public space in front of the Church of Cané into an ‘open square’ that interacts with the Adamello area. Canè is a mountain village, built of stone and memories; the project enhances this connection. Local granite - Adamello tonalite - takes centre stage in three suspended blocks, donated to the community as furnishings for rest and reflection. An old notice board is removed to open up the view of the landscape. A signpost becomes a technical and symbolic totem: the dragon and its glacier. A little further upstream, a vault is redeveloped with local stone paving, an expression of the material and cultural history of the area.
