Ca’ De Vignasse | Eligo Studio

In this villa overlooking the coast of the western Ligurian Riviera, the revolution begins at the entrance, with four large openings that allow you to see the sea as soon as you enter the house, both from the ground floor and the upper level.

The openings are a tribute by the designers at Eligo Studio to Giuseppe Terragni.

The house was already there when, in 1956, Ignazio Gardella and Marco Zanuso were commissioned to develop a real estate plan to create a series of vacation homes on the plateau southwest of Arenzano. Originally inhabited by a group of nuns who cultivated the surrounding land, the house was sold to private owners in the 1960s and recently passed into the hands of the current owners.

The strange map seen on the living room wall is the work of the previous owner: She had discovered an island under the sea and painted its maritime coordinates on the wall of her house. The map has been preserved but in a more delicate form, recreated as a bas-relief; now it is almost invisible, but when light enters, the richness of the material is revealed.The original floors in the living room, typically Ligurian, have been replicated in the kitchen with the colors inverted.

The floors on the upper levels were covered by a green carpet: when it was removed, it revealed beautiful marble and slate planks laid in an incredibly modern fashion.

Restored and enhanced, they became the starting point for the new flooring in the bedrooms, where the parquet with three types of wood follows the same striped pattern.

The three floors of the house (150 square meters each) have been redesigned to meet the owners’ needs: they wanted a vacation home to live in year-round, with many rooms and bathrooms to accommodate the whole family. And most importantly, they wanted more views of the sea.

Eligo Studio undertook the renovation of this property, which includes a three-hectare park that, in addition to the main villa, hosts a guesthouse, a painting studio, a pool, and another building being constructed from scratch, a sort of glass house that will be ready by next summer.

In questa villa che si affaccia sulla costa della riviera ligure di ponente, la rivoluzione comincia dall’ingresso, con quattro grandi aperture che permettono di vedere il mare non appena si entra in casa, sia dal pian terreno sia dal livello superiore.

Le aperture sono un tributo che i designer di Eligo Studio hanno rivolto a Giuseppe Terragni.

La casa era già lì, quando nel 1956 Ignazio Gardella e Marco Zanuso furono incaricati di elaborare un piano di sviluppo immobiliare per realizzare una serie di case di vacanze nell’altopiano a sud-ovest di Arenzano. In origine abitata da un gruppo di suore che coltivavano il terreno circostante, la casa fu venduta a privati negli anni Sessanta per poi passare di recente nelle mani degli attuali proprietari.

La strana mappa che si intravede sulla parete del living si deve alla precedente proprietaria: Aveva scoperto un’isola sotto il mare e ne aveva dipinto le coordinate marittime sul muro della sua casa.

La mappa è stata conservata ma in versione più delicata, riproponendola in forma di bassorilievo; ora quasi non si vede, ma con l’ingresso della luce si percepisce la ricchezza della materia.I pavimenti originali del living, tipicamente liguri, sono stati replicati in cucina, con i colori invertiti.

I pavimenti ai piani superiori erano coperti da una moquette verde: quando è stata sollevata, ha rivelato dei bellissimi listoni di marmo e ardesia posati in maniera incredibilmente moderna.

Restaurati e valorizzati, sono diventati il punto di partenza per la nuova pavimentazione delle camere, dove il parquet con tre essenze di legno riprende lo stesso disegno a righe.I tre piani della casa (150 metri quadri l’uno) sono stati ripensati per rispondere alle esigenze dei proprietari: desideravano una casa di vacanza, ma da vivere tutto l’anno, con tante stanze e tanti bagni, per ospitare l’intera famiglia. E poi il mare: volevano vederlo di più.

Eligo Studio si è occupato della ristrutturazione di questa proprietà: un parco di tre ettari che, oltre alla villa padronale, ospita una dépendance per gli ospiti, un atelier di pittura, una piscina e un altro volume che il duo sta costruendo ex novo, una sorta di glass house che sarà pronta per l’estate prossima.
