The interior design builds on an existing layout – the goal was not to change the space itself, but to transform its atmosphere. The client wished to darken the entire apartment and emphasize black, which thus became the main expressive element. Thanks to the generous ceiling height and abundance of natural light, the interior remains airy and bright.

A key motif of the design is the black “box” that runs through the apartment – from the entrance, through the living area, to the bedroom. It was created by oil-finishing the original oak flooring on the mezzanine and staircase; the treatment also included all doors. Here, black is not a decoration but an active shaping element – it connects functional zones and creates a new spatial logic.

The interior plays with slanted lines – the plaster surface behind the kitchen, the metal headboard, the tilted dining table – as well as with material contrasts. Chemically treated sheet metal with intentional patina adds rawness and visual depth to the space. Metal also appears in the form of perforated mesh curtains, which not only filter light but also bring a subtle industrial accent to the apartment.

Despite its strong material expression, the interior remains delicate – here, black is not heavy but precise. It doesn’t overwhelm the space; it defines it.
