Villa Porto Rafael, Sardinia | Westway Architects

In this project designed by Westway Architects, our light glides over stone, wood, Orosei marble, and Vietri ceramics. It connects different eras — allowing us to experience this wild beauty.

The project originates from the idea of a wide, fluid, and continuous space. Stone paving and wooden pergolas define the pathways and boundaries, while the perimeter walls frame views that open towards the sea and the rocky garden, creating a visual dialogue consistent with the natural surroundings. The tribute to Sardinian architecture from the 1970s emerges in the light tones of the plaster and the Orosei marble.
Light, both natural and artificial, is an integral part of the architectural composition: it enhances the texture of the materials, defines the volumes, and guides the perception of spaces throughout the day. Artificial lighting is calibrated to ensure visual comfort and perceptual continuity between indoor and outdoor areas, contributing to a cohesive reading of the project.

In questo progetto firmato Westway Architects, la nostra luce scivola sulla pietra, sul legno, sul marmo di Orosei e sulle ceramiche di Vietri. Connette epoche diverse, permettendoci di ammirare questa selvaggia bellezza.

Il progetto nasce dall’idea di uno spazio ampio, fluido e continuo. Le pavimentazioni in pietra e le pergole in legno definiscono i percorsi e i confini, mentre le pareti perimetrali incorniciano scorci che si aprono verso il mare e il giardino roccioso, creando un dialogo visivo coerente con il contesto naturale. L’omaggio alle architetture sarde degli anni Settanta si ritrova nelle linee morbide e organiche, nei toni chiari degli intonaci, nei materiali e nel marmo di Orosei.
La luce, naturale e artificiale, è parte integrante della composizione architettonica: valorizza la texture dei materiali, definisce i volumi e guida la percezione degli spazi nel corso della giornata. L’illuminazione artificiale è calibrata per garantire comfort visivo e continuità percettiva tra interno ed esterno, contribuendo a una lettura unitaria del progetto.
