Azimut Yachts’ renovated headquarters in Avigliana

The architectural project to renovate Azimut Yachts’ headquarters in Avigliana, near Turin, is by AMDL CIRCLE, which signed the artistic direction of the construction of a new facility and the restyling of part of the existing office building. The result is an architecture that not only welcomes visitors but is also designed to give them a true experience through a space that tells the story of ongoing research in the yachting industry, where the brand’s identity is expressed in moods created by unexpected pairings of materials and finishes.
A new entrance and a new welcome. The pavilion, which serves as the new entrance to the company’s headquarters, is a pared-down, metallic structure reminiscent of yachts and juxtaposed with the historic brick structures of the original building designed by Gabetti & Isola. The continuous walls clad in Alucobond reflect natural light, amplifying the textured effect of the existing structure and harmonising the dialogue between memory and contemporaneity.
The path leading up to the entrance is flanked on the right side by a shallow water feature that reflects models of boats showcasing Azimut’s revolutionary technological innovations in the industry.

The entrance is a glass wall that immediately reveals a transparent, light-filled space defined by wood and aluminium elements. The atmosphere is warm and elegant, with a reception area leading to a waiting lounge that reprises the visual codes and materials already developed for Azimut’s temporary installations, reinforcing the connection with the brand’s identity.
A LED wall completes the experience with a dynamic visual narrative made up of constantly updated content, offering a snapshot of the brand’s present and a vision of its future discreetly integrated into the architecture.
The back wall looks out over the surrounding landscape, framed by large windows that let natural light flood into the space. The pavilion is also designed as a flexible space that can be rearranged as needed to host exhibitions and events.
The engine of the first boat built by the company’s founder, Paolo Vitelli, is displayed in a lightbox as a reminder of the brand’s origins and the power of his pioneering vision.
The existing building: a new experience. The pavilion leads directly to the completely refurbished office building. The project developed by AMDL CIRCLE also involved part of the ground floor. Here, the huge sculptural Sea Rocks provide a way to learn about and explore the innovative materials and cutting-edge technologies used by the brand. One wall is dedicated to photographs that look back over the company’s 50-year history in a themed narrative.

The experience is brought to a close on the third floor, also designed by AMDL CIRCLE, which hosts the boardroom and the main conference rooms. The connections between the different areas are provided by a new indoor walkway linking the three previously separated towers. It features large continuous windows and panoramic terraces that look out over the mountain landscape, with a view of the Sacra di San Michele religious complex.
The architectural restyling involved changes to the windows and doors throughout the building, using large single-pane windows that allow more light into the office spaces.

Per il rinnovo della sede di Azimut Yachts ad Avigliana (TO), AMDL CIRCLE ha firmato il progetto architettonico e seguito la direzione artistica della realizzazione di un nuovo edificio e della riqualificazione di parte della palazzina esistente. Il risultato è un’architettura che non solo accoglie, ma è pensata per introdurre il visitatore a vivere una experience, attraverso uno spazio che racconta la costante ricerca nel settore nautico e dove l’identità del brand prende forma nelle atmosfere create dall’inaspettato accostamento di materiali e finiture.

Un nuovo ingresso, un nuovo modo di accogliere. Il padiglione si presenta come il nuovo ingresso alla sede: un volume essenziale e metallico, che evoca il mondo nautico, si appoggia accanto al corpo in mattoni dell’edificio storico progettato da Gabetti & Isola. Le pareti continue rivestite in Alucobond riflettono la luce naturale, amplificando l’effetto materico della struttura esistente e armonizzando il dialogo tra memoria e contemporaneità.
Il percorso verso l’ingresso è segnato da una vasca d’acqua lineare sul lato destro, dalla quale emergono modelli di barche sospese sull’acqua, che raccontano l’innovazione tecnologica di Azimut nel mondo dello yachting.

Una parete interamente vetrata caratterizza il varco d’ingresso, rivelando sin da subito uno spazio luminoso e trasparente, definito da elementi in legno e alluminio. L’atmosfera è calda ed elegante: la reception introduce a una waiting lounge che riprende i codici visivi e materici già sviluppati per gli allestimenti temporanei di Azimut, rafforzando la coerenza identitaria del progetto.
Un ledwall completa l’esperienza con un racconto visivo dinamico, fatto di contenuti in costante aggiornamento, capaci di restituire la visione presente e futura del brand, integrandola in modo discreto nell’architettura.
La parete di fondo si apre sul paesaggio, incorniciato dalle grandi vetrate e consente di far entrare la luce naturale nell’ambiente. Il padiglione è stato pensato anche come luogo flessibile e riconfigurabile all’occorrenza, per ospitare mostre ed eventi.
Il motore della prima barca di Paolo Vitelli, fondatore dell’azienda, esposto in un lightbox, è un elemento che ricorda le origini del marchio e la forza della sua visione pionieristica.

La palazzina esistente: un'esperienza rinnovata. Dal padiglione si accede direttamente alla palazzina storica, completamente riqualificata. L’intervento di AMDL CIRCLE ha interessato anche una porzione del piano terra. Qui trovano posto le Sea Rocks, grandi oggetti scultorei che permettono di conoscere ed esplorare i materiali innovativi e le tecnologie d’avanguardia impiegate dal brand. Una parete è invece dedicata alla quadreria fotografica che ripercorre i 50 anni dell’azienda attraverso una narrazione tematica.

L’experience si conclude al terzo piano, anch’esso progettato da AMDL CIRCLE, che accoglie la boardroom e le principali sale riunioni. I collegamenti tra i diversi ambienti si sviluppano attraverso una nuova passeggiata interna, che connette le tre torrette precedentemente distinte. La passeggiata è caratterizzata da ampie vetrate continue e terrazze panoramiche, che affacciano sul paesaggio montano circostante, da cui si può vedere il complesso de la Sacra di San Michele.

La riqualificazione architettonica ha previsto un intervento sui serramenti dell’intera palazzina, impiegando ampie finestre a vetro unico che garantiscono una maggiore illuminazione degli spazi adibiti ad uso ufficio.
