Villa Junot, a private mansion built in the 1920s, has been brought back to life by Iconic House, the French pioneer of the “Maison-Hôtelière” concept. To fully reimagine this exceptional residence, Thibaud Elziere and Robin Michel turned to CLAVES, the interior architecture studio founded by Laure Gravier and Soizic Fougeront. The duo orchestrated a complete renovation, blending architectural heritage, collectible design, and curated contemporary art. With 710m² in total - 550m² of interior space, 40m² of garden, and a 120m² rooftop - , Villa Junot becomes Iconic House’s first Parisian address, offering a unique experience that bridges the gap between private residence and luxury hospitality.

Located on Avenue Junot in the 18th arrondissement, one of Paris’s most emblematic neighborhoods, this house was originally the residence of André Mauprey, a renowned composer, librettist and a prominent figure in the cultural scene of the interwar period. At that time, Montmartre still pulsed with surrealist energy and avantgarde creativity, drawing artists, musicians, and poets whose legacy continues to resonate through the house.

In 2023, Iconic House acquired the property with a clear ambition: to restore its original spirit and anchor it in a tradition of hospitality, creativity, and artistic freedom. Deeply inspired by the home's past, the decorative arts, and art history, CLAVES and Iconic House joined forces to reawaken the soul of this historic residence. Thanks to CLAVES’s comprehensive restoration, Villa Junot reclaims its place as a rare and exceptional home, subtly combining the codes of luxury hospitality with the warmth and intimacy of an art-filled family house.

Villa Junot’s architectural vision is centered on restoring and elevating the original features, while incorporating design elements inspired by the aesthetics and craftsmanship of the Art Deco era. The original mosaics in the main bathroom have been meticulously preserved, while new custom mosaic flooring pays homage to the original work. The wrought iron details have been redesigned around a motif inspired by the bass clef, visible on the staircase railing and rooftop balustrades. Contemporary plasterwork, vaulted ceilings, cornices, and arches, enhances the volumes throughout. Glossy lacquer, chrome, and gold leaf catch the light, while decorative murals extend the conversation between Art Deco and surrealism, weaving illusion, poetry, and dreamlike imagery into the space.

These contemporary, site-specific interventions include a cosmic mural by Maldo Nollimerg in the dining room, stained glass windows by Atelier Toporkoff in the living room, a draped fireplace by Southway Studio, a library-themed mural by Garance Vallée in one of the bedrooms, a painted entrance by Galatée Martin, and a trompe-l’oeil stairwell fresco by Mauro Ferreira.
