The Grade II listed building was renovated in 2020 by London-based Fraher & Findlay Architects, who preserved its original features (high ceilings, period cornices and restored facades) and integrated them with a contemporary design characterized by warm colour palettes by Farrow & Ball, decorative wallpaper and natural materials.

Acquired in 2023, Room Mate Lime Tree represents the brand’s first permanent presence in the British market and now offers 26 elegant and comfortable rooms, as well as “The Buttery”, a café-restaurant popular with Londoners, and a private garden offering a rare haven of tranquillity just a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace. Despite becoming part of an international chain, the hotel has retained its authentic and welcoming identity, which has made it a landmark in the London neighbourhood.
