Candy-colored offices in a former bathhouse | JWA Studio

Palm trees, pastel tones, mirrored and stainless-steel furniture evoking the atmosphere of 1920s Miami, this is the magnetic setting of the new offices of the shared workspace startup, located in a former public bathhouse in the heart of Paris’s 11th arrondissement.

The architecture firm wanted to design an interior that encourages interaction and exchange, while allowing people to disconnect from the outside world.

“We had to start from scratch and redefine a new language and a new world,” explains Jordan Weisberg.

The common areas are punctuated by tropical oases that offer a moment of pause, all immersed in an exotic beach-inspired universe, sheltered under a comforting blue sky.

References to the site’s original aquatic spirit are felt in the omnipresence of blue shades, sometimes evoking the sky, sometimes the ocean, as well as in the light fixtures that resemble air bubbles. Fragments of the past have been preserved and scattered here and there, like small treasures — or like a message in a bottle sent out to sea a hundred years ago.

The reflections and distortions in the large stainless-steel and mirrored surfaces recall the dazzling refractions of sunlight through ocean waves. Meanwhile, the aluminum chairs bring back childhood memories of seaside terraces, sipping a soda during summer holidays.

Jordan Weisberg plays with contrasts: the formal meeting room has been designed as a large padded decompression chamber in strawberry-gelato pink, creating a cocoon of refreshing and comforting softness.

As for the playroom, its pixelated walls inevitably remind us of the early days of video game consoles. “In terms of colors and materials, the spaces are truly built around a summer palette that activates all our senses,” says Jordan Weisberg.

With this project, the JWA agency delivers a colorful and therapeutic interior, full of softness — one that evokes childhood, summer, and the scent of salt water.
