Paris XVI | KATZ Studio

Located in Paris’s 16th arrondissement, this family apartment underwent a complete renovation by KATZ architecture studio. The project’s ambition was to enhance natural light, soften the volumes, and connect the living spaces around the veranda and terrace, now the luminous heart of the home. The palette of materials — smoked eucalyptus wood, travertine, lime paint by Ressources, and Taj Mahal stone — forms a calm, harmonious composition where every detail is custom designed. A special emphasis on curved lines – from arched openings to sculptural shelving spheres – brings the apartment a soft, tactile sense of flow, true to the studio’s refined aesthetic.

Entrance and Living Areas

This family apartment in the 16th arrondissement underwent a complete renovation, designed to reveal natural light and create a fluid connection between the different spaces. The project’s central idea was to enhance the veranda and terrace, turning them into true extensions of the living area. Noble materials — smoked eucalyptus wood, lime paint by Ressources, and a chevron oak floor by CarréSol — form a soft, timeless foundation, where every detail has been custom-crafted.

Curved lines play a key role throughout the design, softening transitions and shaping the volumes. The arched doorway leading from the living room to the bathroom and dressing area introduces a sense of fluidity and calm, while the curved wall connecting the living and dining rooms gently guides the eye. The custom-designed bookcase, punctuated with sculptural spheres, echoes this rounded geometry, creating a subtle dialogue between form and material.

The living room is arranged around this focal piece. The vintage Utrecht armchairs, reupholstered for the project, bring an iconic and timeless presence, while the Ring sconces by CTO Lighting cast a warm, enveloping glow. Together, they create a serene yet contemporary atmosphere, where textures interact beautifully with natural light. In the dining area, the Oku table and Hippo chairs by Norr11 maintain the same refined, understated elegance. Above them, the Elma pendant light from Aromas del Campo subtly defines the space, complementing the mineral texture of the travertine stone featured in the adjoining kitchen. Bathed in light, the kitchen pairs natural stone and smoked wood in a balanced palette that evokes both conviviality and comfort.

Bedrooms

The master bedroom continues the project’s signature aesthetic: a soft, hushed atmosphere defined by warm wood tones and natural fabrics. A custom headboard upholstered in Nobilis fabric forms the focal point of the room, enhanced by soft, filtered light through flowing curtains. In the en-suite bathroom, Taj Mahal stone introduces a luminous, mineral quality, highlighted by Versailles sconces from Astro Lighting.

The child’s bedroom, conceived as a playful and evolving cocoon, features furniture by Sebra and a Pierre Frey wallpaper with gentle, colorful motifs. Santa & Cole wall lights provide a soft reading glow, while a sheepskin rug by Lorena Canals adds warmth and comfort, completing this serene family atmosphere.

Situé dans le 16e arrondissement de Paris, cet appartement familial a fait l’objet d’une rénovation complète menée par KATZ architecture studio. L’objectif : révéler la lumière naturelle, adoucir les volumes et connecter les espaces de vie autour de la véranda et de la terrasse, devenues le cœur lumineux du projet. Les matières choisies — bois d’eucalyptus fumé, travertin, peinture à la chaux Ressources et pierre Taj Mahal — dessinent un ensemble cohérent et apaisé, où chaque détail a été pensé sur mesure. L’attention portée aux arrondis – murs courbés, arche, et bibliothèques ponctuées de sphères – apporte au lieu une douceur tactile et visuelle, fidèle à l’esprit du studio.

Entrée et pièces de vie

Cet appartement familial du 16e arrondissement a fait l’objet d’une rénovation complète, pensée pour révéler la lumière naturelle et fluidifier la circulation entre les espaces. L’intervention s’est articulée autour d’un axe fort : valoriser la véranda et la terrasse, véritables prolongements de la pièce à vivre. Les matériaux nobles — bois d’eucalyptus fumé, peinture à la chaux Ressources, parquet point de Hongrie en chêne clair (CarréSol) — composent une base douce et intemporelle, où chaque détail a été ajusté sur mesure.

Les lignes arrondies sont au cœur du projet : elles viennent adoucir les transitions et structurer les volumes. Le mur courbé reliant le salon à la salle à manger guide naturellement le regard, tandis que l’arche menant vers la salle de bain et le dressing introduit une sensation de fluidité et de calme. La bibliothèque sur mesure, ponctuée de sphères sculpturales, fait écho à cette géométrie douce, instaurant un dialogue subtil entre formes et matières.

Le salon s’organise autour de cette pièce maîtresse. Les fauteuils Utrecht, modèles vintage retapissés, instaurent une présence iconique et intemporelle, tandis que les appliques Ring de CTO Lighting diffusent une lumière chaude et enveloppante. L’ensemble compose une atmosphère à la fois apaisée et contemporaine, où les textures dialoguent avec la lumière naturelle.

Dans la salle à manger, la table Oku et les chaises Hippo de Norr11 s’inscrivent dans cette même élégance sobre. La suspension Elma d’Aromas del Campo structure l’espace avec discrétion et modernité, tout en soulignant la texture minérale du travertin présent dans la cuisine attenante. Celle-ci, baignée de lumière, associe pierre naturelle et bois fumé dans une palette équilibrée, où chaque détail favorise la convivialité et la douceur de vie.

Chambres

La chambre principale prolonge l’esprit du projet : un décor feutré, dominé par les tons chauds du bois et les matières textiles naturelles. La tête de lit sur mesure, habillée d’un tissu Nobilis, devient l’élément central de la pièce, adoucie par la lumière diffuse filtrant à travers les rideaux. Dans la salle de bain attenante, la pierre Taj Mahal apporte une dimension minérale et lumineuse, sublimée par les appliques Versailles de Astro Lighting. La chambre enfant, pensée comme un cocon ludique et évolutif, s’anime autour du mobilier Sebra et du papier peint Pierre Frey, aux motifs doux et colorés. Les appliques Santa & Cole offrent une lumière de lecture tamisée, tandis qu’un tapis en laine de mouton Lorena Canals vient compléter cette ambiance chaleureuse et réconfortante.
