A 1960s flat becomes a story of design, colour and pop details in the heart of Forlì, Italy

A project combining bold colours and pop design. Pier Currà Architettura has redesigned a flat for a young creative couple, blending custom design with the best of 1960s visual culture.

Every corner of this flat in the historic centre of Forlì tells a story of creativity, colour and memory. The renovation by Pier Currà Architettura has transformed a 1960s home into a place where vintage soul meets contemporary pop touches, creating surprising and vibrant interiors.

The double-height living room, illuminated by a large window, is the heart of the home: here, the morning light reflects off the details and amplifies the colour contrasts. The space is defined by custom-made furniture that becomes architecture: the orange staircase, transformed into a spectacular bookcase, and the storage entrance designed as a filter between the lowered hallway and the living area. Completing the atmosphere are iconic lamps such as Parentesi by Flos, Nessino and Teti by Artemide, which interact with the heights and volumes, bringing the aesthetics of an era into the present.

The kitchen is a tribute to colour and bespoke design. Custom-designed, it stands out for its intense blue surfaces and steel worktop. The flooring is an explicit homage to the 1970s with optical-style tiles, while a glass brick wall filters the light and introduces geometric patterns. The lighting alternates the pop simplicity of Artemide's Teti with the curves of Nordic's FlowerPot, completing an environment where every detail is designed as an element of storytelling.

The interior design constantly moves between memory and innovation: the large original window and the ceiling in exotic wood slats have been restored and enhanced, while custom furnishings and bold colour choices create a narrative thread that guides you through the spaces. Pastel-coloured bathrooms with cement tiles and red taps, a master bedroom marked by a custom-made burgundy wardrobe and white panelling, and the upper floor with a balcony-flower box and study overlooking the living room, all tell the story of a design approach in which functionality and imagination intertwine.

The result is a home that does not renounce its original identity but reinvents it with energy and lightness. A project that reflects the vision of Pier Currà Architettura: to give meaning to a space in complete harmony with the aspirations and emotions of those who have decided to live in it, building continuous relationships and references to their “inner place” through architecture that is both tangible and intangible.

Un progetto tra cromie decise e Pop design. Pier Currà Architettura firma il restyling di un appartamento per una giovane coppia di creativi mescolando custom design e il meglio della cultura visiva degli anni ’60.

Ogni angolo di questo appartamento nel centro storico di Forlì racconta una storia fatta di creatività, colore e memoria. La ristrutturazione firmata dallo studio Pier Currà Architettura ha trasformato una casa degli anni ’60 in un luogo dove l’anima vintage incontra tocchi pop contemporanei, dando vita a interni sorprendenti e vibranti.

Il soggiorno a doppia altezza, illuminato dalla grande vetrata, è il cuore della casa: qui la luce del mattino si riflette sui dettagli e amplifica i contrasti cromatici. Lo spazio è definito da un arredo su misura che diventa architettura: la scala arancio, trasformata in una scenografica libreria, e l’ingresso contenitivo progettato come filtro tra la bussola ribassata e l’ambiente living. A completare l’atmosfera, lampade iconiche come Parentesi di Flos, Nessino e Teti di Artemide, che dialogano con le altezze e i volumi, portando nel presente l’estetica di un’epoca.

La cucina è un inno al colore e al design sartoriale. Disegnata su misura, si distingue per il blu intenso delle superfici e il top in acciaio. La pavimentazione è un omaggio esplicito agli anni ’70 con le piastrelle in stile optical, mentre una parete in vetromattone filtra la luce e introduce giochi geometrici. L’illuminazione alterna la semplicità pop della Teti di Artemide alle curve della FlowerPot di Nordic, completando un ambiente dove ogni dettaglio è pensato come elemento di racconto.

La progettazione degli interni si muove costantemente tra memoria e innovazione: la grande vetrata originale e il soffitto in listelli di legno esotico sono stati restaurati e valorizzati, mentre arredi custom e scelte cromatiche decise costruiscono un filo narrativo che guida attraverso gli spazi. Bagni dai colori pastello con cementine e rubinetterie rosse, una camera matrimoniale segnata da un armadio su misura bordeaux e una boiserie bianca, fino al piano superiore con ballatoio-fioriera e studio affacciato sul soggiorno, raccontano un approccio progettuale in cui funzionalità e immaginario si intrecciano.

Il risultato è un’abitazione che non rinuncia alla propria identità originaria, ma la reinventa con energia e leggerezza. Un progetto che riflette la visione di Pier Currà Architettura: dare significato ad uno spazio in piena sintonia con le aspirazioni e le emozioni di chi ha deciso di abitarlo, costruendo continue relazioni e rimandi al loro “luogo interiore”, mediante un’architettura al contempo tangibile ed intangibile.
