More than just a family home, Casa MK was designed as a stage for gatherings, music, celebrations, and a vibrant daily life. Located in a gated community in São Paulo, the residence marks the third collaboration between the homeowners and Superlimão, the architecture firm that had previously designed their office and renovated their former home.

Originally conceived as a subtle renovation of a pre-existing structure, the project evolved into a deeper transformation. What began as minor updates turned into a complete reimagining of the space — resulting in a home that reflects the owners’ personalities through solutions that blend authenticity, functionality, and warmth.

A Layout in Motion

The ground floor unfolds as a seamless extension of the garden. The main living room, enclosed in floor-to-ceiling glass, maintains visual continuity with the outdoors and the music studio — a creative space adapted from a former annex. The studio was acoustically treated in partnership with a specialized firm and features custom solutions, including a burgundy ceiling and a shelving unit repurposed from the previous house.

Designed for hosting, the layout is flexible and dynamic: modular sofas with movable backrests allow for multiple arrangements, whether for intimate dinners or lively parties. A swing suspended at the center of the room adds to the light, playful atmosphere. The kitchen maintains a sense of intimacy, yet features a retractable pass-through window that enables either connection or separation from the social areas, depending on the occasion.

Outdoors, the landscaping embraces a custom-built bench molded on-site in the same material as the flooring, creating visual cohesion throughout the terrace. A robust stone countertop anchors the festive cooking area — perfect for outdoor meals, cocktails, and informal gatherings.

To Live — and Relive

A spirit of reuse permeates the entire project. Furniture, bookshelves, and custom cabinetry from the previous home were brought into the new one and given new life. In the basement, alongside the garage, a multifunctional game room offers a laid-back atmosphere, complete with a pool table and video games.

The combination of materials reinforces the project’s identity. Wood brings warmth, stone adds texture, while metal and rope elements — used in a custom art installation designed by Superlimão — provide structural lightness. The piece runs vertically through the stairwell, creating an architectural gesture that connects the floors with rhythm and fluidity.

Casa MK is a reflection of architecture as lived experience — adaptable, integrated, and celebratory — in every detail of everyday life.
