Tangram House | TETRO Arquitetura

Located in Lagoa Santa, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Tangram House occupies a gently sloping site on the edge of a lake. The house is placed at the highest point of the lot so that, from the street, it appears as a discreet horizontal line, almost blending with the horizon. Retaining walls, landscaped embankments and the built volume itself form a visual barrier to the outside. As soon as one enters, the street disappears: from inside the house, you see only trees, lawn and water. The project is organized around a triangular form, which inspires the name Tangram and unfolds into the roof in glued laminated timber. This roof, composed of a sequence of triangular planes, functions as a large shelter: it protects the privacy of the house toward the street and opens fully toward the lake. Light enters through skylights that cut the sky and illuminate the living spaces and circulation on the upper floor. The structure is mixed, combining the lightness of timber roofs and verandas with the solidity of exposed concrete slabs and walls, in dialogue with the stone walls that retain the slope of the terrain.

On the lower level lie the social areas – living room, kitchen, gourmet space, wine cellar and swimming pool – all facing the lake through large glass panes and generous verandas. Part of this program is embedded in the retaining wall itself, where the support kitchen, bathroom and wine cellar are located, creating an inhabited thickness between house and earth. On this floor, the contact with the landscape is direct: the water of the pool seems to extend the surface of the lake, and the interior flows outward with no clear boundaries.

On the upper level, the private wing brings together a family room and five bedrooms: the master suite, two bedrooms for the children and two guest rooms. All of them open to the view, protected by the wide eave of the roof and by the distance from the street. Everyday life is always framed by nature, never by urban traffic.

Between the precise drawing of the structure and the softness of the landscape, Tangram House seeks to be less an object and more a passage: a house that shields itself from the movement of the street in order to open fully to the lake and vegetation, where the line of the building extends the horizon line and the triangular roof unfolds as a gesture of welcome toward nature.

Localizada em Lagoa Santa, na região metropolitana de Belo Horizonte, a Casa Tangram ocupa um terreno em leve declive às margens de um lago. A casa é implantada no ponto mais alto do lote, de modo que, a partir da rua, ela se apresenta como uma linha horizontal discreta, quase confundida com o horizonte. Muros, taludes e o próprio volume construído formam uma barreira visual para o exterior. Quem entra logo percebe que a rua desaparece: de dentro da casa, só se veem as árvores, o gramado e a água.

O projeto se organiza a partir de uma forma triangular, que inspira o nome Tangram e se desdobra na cobertura em madeira laminada colada. Esse teto, composto por uma sequência de planos triangulares, funciona como um grande abrigo: protege a intimidade da casa em direção à rua e se abre completamente em direção ao lago. A luz entra por aberturas zenitais que recortam o céu e iluminam os espaços de estar e a circulação do pavimento superior. A estrutura é mista, combinando a leveza da madeira das coberturas e varandas com a solidez de lajes e paredes em concreto aparente, em diálogo com os muros de pedra que contêm o desnível do terreno.

No nível inferior se concentram os espaços sociais, sala, cozinha, área gourmet, adega e piscina, todos voltados para o lago por meio de grandes panos de vidro e varandas generosas. Parte desse programa se encaixa no próprio muro de arrimo, onde estão cozinha de apoio, banheiro e adega, criando uma espessura habitada entre casa e terra. Nesse pavimento, o contato com a paisagem é direto: a água da piscina parece prolongar o espelho do lago e o interior se estende para o exterior sem limites claros.

No nível superior, a ala íntima reúne um estar e cinco quartos, a suíte master, dois quartos para os filhos e dois quartos de hóspedes. Todos se abrem para a vista, protegidos pelo grande beiral da cobertura e pela distância em relação à rua. A vida cotidiana acontece sempre emoldurada pela natureza, nunca pelo tráfego urbano.

Entre o desenho preciso da estrutura e a suavidade da paisagem, a Casa Tangram busca ser menos objeto e mais passagem: uma casa que se protege do movimento da rua para poder se abrir por completo ao lago e à vegetação, onde a linha da construção prolonga a linha do horizonte e o triângulo da cobertura se desdobra como um gesto de acolhimento para a natureza.
