Nestled in the heart of a mature residential neighborhood in Longueuil, this 1960s residence has been reimagined through an intervention centered on the kitchen—conceived as the true heart of family life.

Bound by four structural columns, these constraints became the project’s conceptual catalyst: a glazed volume that extends the perspective beyond its immediate limits. The design engages in a quiet dialogue with the existing structure, revealing the strength of what was preserved while grounding the whole in a calm, contemporary sensibility.

Nichée au coeur d’un quartier résidentiel mature de Longueuil, cette maison des années soixante fait l’objet d’une intervention centrée sur la cuisine, repensée comme le véritable noyau de l’espace de vie familial.

Contraints par quatre colonnes structurelles, nous avons choisi d’en faire le levier conceptuel du projet — un volume vitré qui prolonge le regard au-delà des limites immédiates. L’intervention dialogue avec l’existant, révélant la force des éléments préservés tout en inscrivant l’ensemble dans une lecture contemporaine et apaisée.

Il y a quelque chose de spectaculaire dans cet espace de verre, qui met en valeur la hauteur du plafond et s’harmonise parfaitement avec la fenestration de la maison. »
