Design Experience Hotel A project that highlights the versatility of Platek's lighting fixtures: originally designed for outdoor use, they become ideal for indoor lighting as well

Dot and Shield by Jan Van Lierde, Chiodino by DaBù Studio, and the Mini Corniche by the Platek R&D team enhance the landscape of the Interno Marche hotel. Inside, DOT lighting brings out the poetic charm of the interiors. Platek, with a strong focus on outdoor lighting, contributes to landscape architecture with high-quality, efficient, and sustainable products—a standard of excellence achieved only by a company with over 30 years of expertise. The decorative aspect of the lighting also stands out, defined by graceful lines. This recent project, inaugurated in April 2024, is set in a late Liberty-style building from 1922, nestled between the Sibillini Mountains and the Conero coast. Located in Tolentino, Interno Marche hotel occupies a former factory that housed the Nazareno Gabrielli company for sixty years. In 1962, it became the headquarters of Poltrona Frau and the residence of Franco Moschini—founder of the current Poltrona Frau and a prominent figure in promoting "Made in Italy" worldwide with brands like Cassina, Cappellini, Zanotta, and Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, of which he is President.

This 3,600 m² space celebrates the history of international design and its major figures. It includes 25 unique rooms, each inspired by the style and work of iconic designers, plus 5 suites dedicated to design movements of the past century. Following meticulous restoration and transformation, the building is now a house-museum and destination hotel where visitors can experience iconic design elements that define a century of interior design history. The project was executed by ORAstudio, an architectural and engineering firm founded by Cristiana Antonini, Claudio Tombolini, Michele Bonfigli, and Federico Pisani. Their multidisciplinary team expertly manages both design and construction processes.

Lighting design was provided by Fabrizio Mancini, while landscape design was led by Luigina Giordani. For the exterior lighting, a combination of fixtures was selected to achieve multiple goals, from highlighting the environment and decorating the space to ensuring functionality and safety at night. Functional service lighting was complemented by artistic lighting, creating scenic effects that transform shrubs and trees into elements of decor.

The result is a lighting solution that brings out the best in every area. Platek has a steadfast mission: to provide the right amount of light where it’s needed, exploring new ways to experience social spaces, urban mobility areas, work environments, and homes. For this project, Fabrizio Mancini chose DOT spike lights for the planters (also used indoors in multipurpose spaces, café areas, and the hall), Chiodino spike lights and Shield for illuminating plants in the garden and parking area, and Mini Corniche to light the garden’s information totems.
