The project takes the form of a five-meter-diameter sphere, built stone by stone from local black schist on a former, now abandoned livestock site facing the Spanish border. Handcrafted with the local community, it was developed within the European Landscape Together program, led by the open-air museum Museu Experimenta Paisagem and co-funded by the European Union (Creative Europe), with the support of the Institut Français in Paris. The inauguration is scheduled for May 2, 2026.

Through its simple and archaic geometry, Ninho Globo questions our relationship to habitat, the common good, and long-term timeframes. The sphere simultaneously evokes a celestial body and a nest, playing with scale and imagination. A fissure cuts through the volume, inviting visitors inside a hollowed space where the absence of water — a precious resource in this region — and the geological memory of the territory resonate.
At a time when issues of the commons, rurality, and low-tech practices increasingly shape artistic and architectural discourse, Ninho Globo embodies a concrete, site-rooted approach. Anchored in a little-known border territory and carried by collaboration with its inhabitants, the project echoes contemporary concerns around art in public space, collective making, and the durability of gestures in the face of acceleration.
