Grégoire | Atelier Opale
Paris / France / 2025
“The volume was complex to work with, so we chose a very structured, sculptural approach in order not to amplify the existing complexity.”
***
Located near Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Grégoire apartment was created by gradually combining maid's rooms, resulting in a space that was difficult to interpret and lacked any real identity. We completely redesigned the layout, highlighting its two major assets: its brightness and its striking wooden beams.
For this graphic designer client, we played on contrasts:
- a soft and warm envelope of materials—lime walls, beige linen curtains
- more assertive elements, such as the shiny brown mosaic kitchen island or the stainless steel volume that conceals a burgundy bathroom.
The entirely custom-designed layout optimizes every inch of space under the sloping ceilings:
- a staircase incorporating the laundry room
- a dressing room concealed behind curtains
- a highly functional kitchen
- a spacious office area.
The lower level features a play of contrasts, while the bedroom under the eaves unfolds like a soft beige cocoon.
