Located in one of the most emblematic areas of Paris, in the 7th arrondissement, this project embodies a demanding vision of the Parisian apartment: generous in scale, precise in execution, and resolutely timeless. The intervention reinterprets classical codes through a confident contemporary language, free of unnecessary effects or decorative nostalgia.
The double living room, conceived as the main reception space, directly engages with the entrance hall, together forming the true backbone of the project. Upon entry, a restrained use of Paladin terrazzo introduces a graphic, contemporary texture, subtly guiding the movement toward the marble arches that frame the threshold of the reception rooms.
In the double living room, the ceiling designed and painted by Guillaume Sardin brings a narrative and mythological dimension to the space. This contemporary fresco evokes the intoxication of ancient banquets and the abundance of the gods’ feasts, held in a delicate balance between celebration and control. Suspended above the room, the ceiling does more than decorate—it elevates the space, invoking imagination and a form of elegantly contained excess.
Accessible from the entrance, the library asserts itself as an architectural space in its own right. It unfolds a hushed, almost silent presence, where the depth of the wood absorbs light rather than reflects it. Its deliberately subdued design avoids any form of display, allowing the material to express its density and warmth. The stained glass filters a soft, nuanced light, establishing a subtle dialogue between heritage and contemporary intervention. The ensemble creates a place for reading and retreat, both intimate and solemn, where the eye settles and time slows.
The second part of the apartment adopts a more intimate atmosphere, defined by softened, controlled light. The night spaces are reached through a corridor that ensures a gentle transition from day to night. The master suite is conceived as a space of withdrawal—calm and enveloping—where materials converse without confrontation. The guest bedroom follows the same logic: comfort, clarity, and restraint. Here, nothing seeks immediate seduction; everything is designed to endure.
The bathrooms introduce a more mineral register. Zellige tiles, laid with a controlled irregularity, recall the work of the hand and the nobility of craftsmanship, while the marble basins, solid and uncompromising, anchor the spaces in a frank, almost architectural materiality.
This project offers a precise answer to a simple yet rarely resolved question: how to modernize a large Parisian apartment without betraying its essence. The response lies in balance, rigor, and a certain idea of luxury—one that reveals itself only through use.
