The Dom na Staszelowce w Koscielisku project by Studio Formy, Agnieszka Burzykowska-Walkosz obtained a special mention in the Residential Buildings category of the 13th edition of the Grand Prix competition, with the following motivation: ‘In this home interior, the natural wood of the ceiling and the door and window frames engages smoothly with the expressive, contemporary touch afforded by the porcelain stoneware used for entire walls and doors, as well as floor surfaces and bathrooms, in which the materials chosen were also used for the specially designed washbasins, forming part of a carefully measured overall composition.’

With a surface area of 110 metres and situated in the Tatra mountains, the home was built using the traditional architectural technique of the region, using thick, robust conifer trunks. The building engages with the natural surroundings and strikes a sophisticated balance with the essence of the environment in every detail, from the choice of the materials to the solutions offered in keeping with individual requirements and preferences, for a unique, functional home able to convey a sense of comfort, well-being and safety.

In this project, the refined, large-size porcelain stoneware tiles by Casalgrande Padana blend smoothly with the mountain style of the home, delivering a sensation of timeless elegance: irregular veining patterns carved into rock shape three-dimensional surfaces of light and shadow with a sophisticated texture in which classic beauty engages with contemporary design culture.

In the kitchen, the tiles from the Supreme collection, featured in classic fashion on the walls, have also been used to shape the island and the worktop, proving versatile and functional.

The vein-touch tiles in the Marmora collection featured in the master bedroom follow through seamlessly from the modern art motifs in the open-plan corridor area.

In the bathrooms, the monolith washbasin units tiled using the Marmoker porcelain stoneware collection blend seamlessly with the walls and surfaces, coordinating with other material details of the décor, while the backlighting in the shower area underscores the pleasing material and visual quality of the stoneware tiles from the Supreme collection.
