Located in Bilbao's Ensanche district, this comprehensive refurbishment project transforms a flat into a space that balances functionality, aesthetics and comfort.

The building is located a few metres from Doña Casilda Park and maintains the architectural essence of its surroundings.

Originally, the layout of the flat reflected the classic configuration of the Ensanche, with very compartmentalised spaces, two entrances (main and service), a kitchen independent from the living room and a large balcony, as well as a bright terrace facing the courtyard.

‘At Tabula Studio we conceive architecture not only as a design tool, but also as a means to create experiences. Our Punto Medio project reflects this philosophy by creating environments that promote wellbeing, enhance natural movement and highlight the beauty of noble and organic materials’.

A home designed for living and flowing

The design not only responds to the functional needs of its inhabitants, but also transforms the space into an environment where aesthetics and usability coexist in harmony. Every detail has been carefully planned to enhance the daily experience, favouring a natural and organic flow between the different environments.

The science of organic forms

The layout of the house is characterised by fluid circulations, with curved doorways and doors. Rounded angles facilitate natural and comfortable movement, bringing balance and serenity to the environment. In addition, this approach encourages inspiration and flexible thinking.

Layout designed for family evolution

The project establishes a clear differentiation between the day and night areas. The rest area is relegated to the interior, seeking a more peaceful and welcoming environment, while the day area enjoys the connection with the exterior.

The bedrooms are organised around a spacious secondary entrance hall, which functions as a multi-purpose area with the capacity to adapt to future family needs.

The fluid layout of the home culminates in a large south-facing terrace, designed to be used all year round. Thanks to a system of modular enclosures, it can remain closed in winter and open completely in the warmer months, thus extending the living area.

Inspiring rooms and materials

The house has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, laundry room, kitchen, dining room, living room and a large south-facing winter terrace.

The predominant materials have been selected for their warmth and authenticity: Turkish travertine, Campaspero limestone, oak wood and cladding in Biocal Cement Design finish in RAL 1013, evoking a timeless Mediterranean aesthetic.

The result is a home in which light, texture and spatial fluidity combine to generate a harmonious, welcoming environment designed to evolve with its inhabitants.
