Pierre-Yves Rochon emphasizes a balance between heritage and modernity, paying homage to Milan's history and infusing a sense of refined discretion, where every space is designed with precision in a fluid and natural continuity.

The interiors of the rooms and suites stand out for their contemporary interpretation of local heritage, with collaborations with Poliform and Rubelli reinforcing this identity. The materials take centre stage: textured velvet, brass finishes, and graphic bookshelves create a balanced dialogue. Modernity is expressed through colour block harmonies, with selected tones naturally integrating with the building's history; inspired by the cloister's frescoes, the terracotta and gray-blue shades envelop the rooms in a soft and coherent atmosphere – enhancing the unity between private and common spaces.

Technology is also designed to blend with design, never overshadowing the experience; discreet home automation, furniture with studied proportions: every element contributes to a sense of well-being, in an idea of innovation that is not ostentatious but quietly accompanies the overall experience. The original marble in the bathrooms has been preserved and enhanced through redesigned sinks. The custom-made carpentry, crafted in rosewood and fine leather, continues the local artisanal tradition. Every bookshelf and custom-designed piece of furniture reflects this desire for continuity, without concessions and without excesses.

Pierre-Yves Rochon's intervention in the rooms and suites thus respects the legacy of this historic address, while at the same time giving it new life.

"In Milan, we wanted to celebrate the great tradition of Italian design, characterized by proper proportions, balance, and authentic materials. Here, nothing is superfluous: every element naturally finds its place, serving comfort and beauty," says Pierre-Yves Rochon.

The specialty suites are iconic, exuding the atmosphere of a true Milanese home, thanks to their character, design, and spaciousness. Among these is the Fresco Suite, with a preserved fresco on the ceiling painted by Giocondo Albertolli (1742–1839), a unique studio suite that invites guests to live in a work of art. The Renaissance Suite, with an open studio-style layout, has a large canopy bed and features an original Renaissance stucco ceiling.  With its view onto the garden, the suite enjoys gorgeous natural light.

In addition to these, Four Seasons Hotel Milano also offers five suites ideal for business trips or family vacations, thanks to separate living and sleeping areas or a spacious single area – and different types of rooms for a truly personalized stay.

Pierre-Yves Rochon’s work blends beautifully with the common areas, where in 2021, designer Patricia Urquiola brought Milan’s metropolitan and cosmopolitan character to life, incorporating design elements from Cassina, Aggiolight Custom Lamps, Flos; and iconic pieces from collections of Italian brands such as Cassina, Poliform, Moroso, Poltrona Frau, and Stepevi. She also designed the SPA, located in the cellar of the former convent, now a temple of well-being and a pioneer of treatments from the most renowned beauty brands.

Four Seasons Hotel Milano thus continues to be an integral part of the vibrant city – increasingly representing it and offering guests a new and timeless contemporary elegance wrapped in personalized service, emblematic of the brand worldwide.

The Presidential Suite

Today, the new Presidential Suite is unveiled, the hotel's flagship 177-square metre (1,905 square foot) suite, located in its dedicated wing within the private courtyard. This suite combines avant-garde style with historic details, such as a wooden ceiling and a black marble fireplace. Different materials and fabrics, from wool to bouclé, leather and wooden surfaces, come together in a space based on sensitivity and tactile quality.

The suite's art collection includes a series of four engravings by Giampietro Zanotti (1674–1765), whose images depict details of a ceiling fresco originally painted by Pellegrino Tibaldi and Niccolò Abbati for Palazzo Poggi (Bologna). The library features artistic objects created by artists and designers, including Paola Paronetto and Federica Bubani, as well as Murano glass vases and objects, while the porcelain and gold leaf installations were created by Italian ceramist Arianna De Luca.

The suite also features a private kitchen and a large living area. The bedroom, dressing room and bathroom come together in a coherent and intimate ambiance, divided by the living area according to a residential aesthetic. The bathroom distinguishes itself for its contemporary design and the expressive use of Breccia Calacatta marble, characterised by red and aubergine veins. The geometric floor gives strength and identity to the space.

The colours are elegant, the artwork is all from Italy, the linens are by Frette and the textiles by Rubelli. A suite, but also a true private residence within the hotel, the Presidential Suite is perfect for hosting private dinners, aperitifs, or business meetings in the spacious living room – also thanks to a perfectly integrated cocktail bar, which features a counter, wine storage and dedicated equipment.

The Designer Suite

An ode to contemporary Italian design, the Designer Suite - 91 square metres (979 square feet) - is a bright and sophisticated space that combines aesthetics, comfort, and functionality. The iconic oval windows allow the suite to benefit from natural light, enhancing the spacious and well-defined areas of the bedroom, living area and workspace. The living room, also ideal for an additional guest or family, is completed by a foldaway bed, an elegant bathroom and a spacious walk-in closet. The fabrics are by Rubelli and Dedar, the inspirations from Italian design of the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies are all around, with references to Zanotta, Gio Ponti and Fornasetti – his iconic framed porcelain plates – which naturally insert themselves in a coherent storytelling.

Wooden floors, custom-made carpets, and Frette sheets create a warm and refined atmosphere, while the large Carrara marble bathroom with a deep bathtub is made for moments of pure relaxation. Near the bedroom, a library inspired by Charlotte Perriand’s vocabulary introduces a more architectonic and functional dimension.

The original marble in the bathrooms of all suites has been preserved and enhanced with redesigned sinks; the woodwork is custom-made and continues the local artisan tradition.

It is an iconic suite, designed as a luminous and liveable urban pied-à-terre, where guests can experience Milan in style.

Like the Fresco and Renaissance Suites, the Presidential and Designer Suite blend seamlessly with the history of the building, with every colour choice reinforcing the unity between private and common spaces. Each element contributes to an idea of innovation that quietly but elegantly accompanies the hospitality experience.

Four Seasons Hotel Milano ha svelato la scorsa estate l’importante restyling delle sue camere e suite, riportando in città la firma di Pierre Yves-Rochon e un vero omaggio alla ricchezza del design Milanese.

Le 118 camere e suite del Four Seasons Hotel Milano sono state completamente ripensate dall’acclamato designer. Gli ospiti possono ancora trovare lo stile senza tempo dell’hotel, avvolto da una nuova vibrazione data dal ritorno di Rochon, che aveva già rinnovato alcune camere della struttura, e dai dettagli degli spazi.

Si svela oggi la nuova Presidential Suite, fiore all’occhiello dell’hotel che si trova nella sua ala dedicata all’interno della riservata corte e offre 177 mq di spazio; questa suite unisce uno stile d’avanguardia ai dettagli d'epoca, come il soffitto in legno e un caminetto in marmo nero. L’insieme dei materiali e dei tessuti, dalla lana al bouclé, dalla pelle alle superfici lignee, costruisce un ambiente basato sulla sensorialità e sulla qualità tattile.

La collezione d’arte della suite comprende una serie di 4 incisioni a stampa di Giampietro Zanotti (1674–1765) – le cui immagini raffigurano dettagli di un affresco del soffitto originariamente dipinto da Pellegrino Tibaldi e Niccolò Abbati per Palazzo Poggi (Bologna). Protagonisti della libreria diversi oggetti artistici realizzati da artisti e designer, tra cui Paola Paronetto e Federica Bubani – oltre ai vasi e gli oggetti in vetro di Murano – mentre le installazioni in porcellana e foglia d’oro sono state realizzate della ceramista italiana Arianna De Luca.

Lo spazio è ampio e all’interno della Suite si trova anche una cucina privata e una ampia area living. Camera da letto, dressing e toilette sono riuniti in un insieme coerente e riservato, separato dalla zona giorno, secondo una logica pienamente residenziale. La toilette si distingue per un disegno contemporaneo e per l’uso espressivo del marmo, caratterizzato da venature rosse e aubergine di Breccia Calacatta. Il pavimento geometrico conferisce forza e identità allo spazio.

I colori sono eleganti, le opere d’arte sono italiane, la biancheria Frette e i tessili Rubelli. Una suite, ma anche una vera residenza privata all’interno dell’hotel, la Presidential è perfetta per organizzate cene private, aperitivi o riunioni d'affari nell'ampio salotto - anche grazie alla presenza di un cocktail bar integrato, completo di bancone, wine storage e attrezzature dedicate.

Un’ode al design italiano contemporaneo, la Designer Suite – 91 mq - è uno spazio luminoso e sofisticato che coniuga estetica, comfort e funzionalità. Le iconiche finestre ovali inondano la suite di luce naturale, valorizzando gli ambienti ampi e ben distinti tra zona notte, area living e spazio di lavoro. Il soggiorno, ideale anche per un ospite aggiuntivo o per una famiglia, è completato da un letto a scomparsa, un elegante bagno di servizio e un’ampia cabina armadio. Le stoffe sono realizzate da Rubelli e Dedar, le ispirazioni al design italiano degli anni Cinquanta, Sessanta e Settanta, sono frequenti, con riferimenti a Zanotta, Gio Ponti e Fornasetti – di quest’ultimo gli iconici piatti in porcellana incorniciati - che si inseriscono in modo naturale in una narrazione coerente. 

I pavimenti in legno, i tappeti realizzati su misura e le lenzuola Frette creano un’atmosfera calda e raffinata, mentre il grande bagno in marmo di Carrara, con vasca profonda, invita a momenti di puro relax. Accanto alla zona notte, una biblioteca ispirata al vocabolario di Charlotte Perriand introduce una dimensione più architettonica e funzionale.

Il marmo originale delle sale da bagno di tutte le suite è stato preservato e valorizzato attraverso lavabi ridisegnati; la falegnameria è su misura e prosegue la tradizione artigianale locale.

La Designer Suite si configura così come uno spazio luminoso e profondamente abitato, un vero pied-à-terre urbano, dove vivere Milano con stile.

Come le Suite Fresco e Renaissance, la Presidential e la Designer Suite si integrano naturalmente con la storia dell’edificio, portando ogni scelta cromatica a rafforzare l’unità tra gli spazi privati e quelli comuni.
