Maison des Plantes

La Maison des Plantes is located in the heart of a preserved Parisian urban block. On both the upper floors and the ground floor, the house had gradually adapted to the uses of its time, making its layout obsolete. Access to the upper floors, as well as the natural light reaching each room, required a thorough redesign.

Opening the load-bearing wall across the full width of the ground floor, restructuring the roof framework and floor slabs, and creating a new circulation layout allowed us to reorganize the way the spaces are used.

These structural modifications were conceived to optimize natural light, notably through the enlargement of existing openings. The creation of a new circulation scheme is influenced by the specific uses of each floor.

La Maison des Plantes se situe au cœur d’un îlot parisien préservé. Aux étages comme au rez-de-chaussée, cette maison s’est adaptée aux usages de son temps, rendant son organisation obsolète. L’accès aux étages, autant que l’apport en lumière naturelle de chaque pièce, réclamait d’être repensé en profondeur.

L’ouverture du mur porteur sur toute la largeur du rez-de-chaussée, la restructuration de la charpente et des planchers, ainsi que la création d’une nouvelle distribution, nous ont permis de réorganiser les usages.

Ces modifications structurelles ont été pensées dans le but d’optimiser l’apport de lumière, notamment par l’agrandissement des baies existantes. La création d’une nouvelle distribution est influencée par les usages spécifiques de chaque étage.
