LUCIA Salumeria | Amsterdam, Netherlands | LAVICA architecture|design
Concept + Interior design | Restaurant project Amsterdam / Netherlands / 2023
LUCIA Salumeria is a food retail and interior design project located in Amsterdam, conceived by LAVICA architecture | design.
Following a detailed market analysis of the surrounding neighborhood, the project was developed in response to a specific gap: the absence of a refined yet accessible space offering high-quality Italian products for quick consumption—whether on-site, takeaway, or on-the-go.
The concept is rooted in Italian culinary culture, focusing on “salumi” and their versatility. From this vision, LAVICA developed the name “LUCIA Salumeria,” designed to evoke a sense of trust, familiarity and tradition, while positioning the brand within a contemporary urban context. The offering includes premium Italian cured meats, cheeses, fresh mozzarella and a curated selection of Italian wines.
The design is driven by three core principles: quality, authenticity and tradition. These values are translated into a strong and recognizable spatial identity, where interior design enhances product perception and reinforces the brand positioning.
Three design directions were initially proposed: a soft and classic palette, a bold black concept, and a terracotta scheme inspired by the tones of cured meats and food. The final choice—the terracotta red—defines the atmosphere of the space, creating warmth, depth and a direct visual connection with the product.
Furniture and spatial elements are carefully selected to balance aesthetics and comfort, ensuring a welcoming and relaxed customer experience. The layout is designed to support both quick purchases and short stays, optimizing flow and interaction with the display.
LAVICA curated the project in its entirety, including concept development, naming, branding, graphic design, market analysis, cost evaluation, and interior and exterior design. The result is a compact yet impactful retail space, where bold and elegant design choices establish a strong identity within one of the most vibrant and touristic areas of the city.
