The proposal is organized around a nearly square volume, from which the northern corner is subtracted along a diagonal imposed by the site boundary. The house is structured around a central courtyard, the defining element of the ground floor, around which the social and communal areas are gathered.

Access is made from the southern corner, adjacent to the parking area, leading into a small entrance hall that opens directly onto the courtyard. Circulation flows around this central space, providing access to the kitchen, living room, and dining room, which are designed as a continuous open-plan environment. These areas are visually and spatially connected to the courtyard, while their subdivision is subtly defined by structural elements such as the staircase and exposed beams, which help articulate different ambiences.

On the ground floor, the house turns inward, oriented primarily toward the courtyard to ensure privacy from the exterior. This introverted character is broken by a large opening in the northern diagonal corner, which connects the interior to the landscaped garden. At this point, the main vertical circulation is also located, linking both the upper floor and the basement.

The first floor, arranged in an “L” shape, accommodates four bedrooms, grouped in pairs and oriented east and west, with views over the surrounding landscape. The corner bedrooms also extend onto the shared terrace.

The terrace, facing east, south, and west, enjoys continuous sunlight and panoramic views of the Serra de Sintra, including landmarks such as the Pena Palace and the Monserrate Palace. Integrated seating and planting beds enhance the use of this space, while a tubular steel pergola supports climbing vegetation and, together with wooden shutters, provides shade and a sense of enclosure.

The basement, mirroring the upper floor’s “L”-shaped footprint, opens onto two patios located to the east and west. These patios ensure natural light and ventilation, creating comfortable and livable spaces below ground.

A proposta organiza-se a partir de um volume de forma aproximadamente quadrada, ao qual é subtraído o canto norte, definido pela diagonal imposta pelo limite de implantação do lote. Este volume articula-se em torno de um pátio central, elemento estruturante do piso térreo, em torno do qual se concentram os espaços de uso coletivo e social.

O acesso faz-se pelo canto sul, junto à zona de estacionamento, conduzindo a um pequeno hall que comunica diretamente com o pátio interior. A circulação distribui-se em torno deste pátio, permitindo o acesso às diferentes áreas comuns — cozinha, sala de estar e sala de jantar — que se desenvolvem em open space, interligadas entre si e sempre em relação direta com o pátio. A definição de ambientes distintos faz-se através de elementos estruturais, como a escada de ligação vertical e as vigas que marcam ritmos e transições espaciais.

No piso térreo, a casa volta-se essencialmente para o pátio interior, garantindo intimidade em relação ao exterior. Esta lógica é pontualmente interrompida pelo grande vão aberto no canto diagonal norte, que assegura a ligação ao jardim envolvente. É também neste ponto que se localiza a escada principal, que distribui para o piso superior e para a cave.

O piso 1, com implantação em “L”, organiza os quatro quartos, dispostos em pares e orientados a nascente e poente, com vista sobre a paisagem natural. Os quartos de topo prolongam-se ainda para o terraço.

O terraço, orientado a nascente, sul e poente, beneficia de exposição solar contínua e de vistas privilegiadas sobre a Serra de Sintra, destacando-se o Palácio da Pena e o Palácio de Monserrate. Foram previstos bancos e canteiros, potenciando a vivência deste espaço, bem como uma pérgula metálica tubular com trepadeiras, complementada por persianas de madeira, que confere sombra e encerra o volume.

A cave, de implantação semelhante à do piso superior e igualmente em “L”, abre-se a dois pátios nos topos nascente e poente, garantindo iluminação e ventilação naturais.
