MIQUA 34 | Sciveres Guarini Associati

MIQUA 34 is a flat situated on the top two floors of a building in Milan’s historic centre. Prior to the renovation, the interior layout was fragmented and divided by a brick staircase: the fifth floor housed the kitchen, a living room, a bedroom and a terrace, whilst the sixth floor, added over time, contained two large bedrooms. Due to the changing requirements of the current owners, both regarding the layout of the rooms and the condition of the now dilapidated or obsolete systems, it was decided to demolish all the internal partitions. Furthermore, the terrace on the fifth floor seemed to be treated almost as an accessory to the flat, as it was rarely used. The space freed up by this has been reinterpreted in the design and divided into two main areas: the living area and the kitchen area. It features large perimeter rings made of lacquered wood that redefine the space and house various built-in units, such as the bookcase in the living area and the storage in the kitchen area, a metal staircase suspended from the ceiling above, as well as the entire system of blinds and curtains. A large wooden and marble worktop further divides the kitchen area. The sleeping area comprises four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Great importance has been placed on the terrace, where two iron and glass pergolas have been installed, along with an outdoor kitchen and a sun deck. The design also aims to enhance the relationship between all spaces and natural light, as the new internal openings are positioned opposite the existing external windows, allowing direct light and air to flow through. The materials used for the furnishings include walnut, white lacquered panels and hand-lacquered metal panels; the bathrooms are clad in custom-designed coloured cement tiles. The terrace is clad in stoneware slabs, and the pergolas, created in collaboration with Pratic, feature a roof of movable slats.

MIQUA 34  è un appartamento situati agli ultimi due piani di un edificio situato nel centro storico di Milano. La struttura interna prima dell’intervento, mostrava lo spazio frammentato e diviso dalla presenza di una scala in muratura: al quinto piano si trovava la cucina un soggiorno, una camera da letto e una terrazza, al sesto piano aggiunto nel corso del tempo due grandi camere da letto. A causa delle mutate esigenze dell’attuale proprietà sia per quanto riguardava la distribuzione degli ambienti, sia  per lo stato degli impianti ormai vetusti o obsoleti, si è deciso di demolire tutti i tavolati interni. Inoltre la terrazza presente al quinto piano sembrava intesa quasi come accessoria all’appartamento in quanto poco sfruttata. Lo spazio liberato ottenuto viene con il progetto riletto e suddiviso in due macroaree: zona living  e zona cucina e viene popolato dal disegno di grandi anelli perimetrali in legno laccato che ridisegnano lo spazio e contengono alcuni iperarredi come la libreria nel living e lo storage della zona cucina, una scala metallica appesa al solaio soprastante oltre a tutto il sistema di oscuranti e di tende.  Un grosso bancone in legno e marmo divide ulteriormente lo spazio della zona cucina.  Nella zona notte sono state ricavate quattro camere da letto e due bagni. Grande importanza è stata data alla terrazza, dove sono state installate due pergole in ferro e vetro ed è presente una cucina esterna, un solarium. Il progetto inoltre punta a migliorare il rapporto di tutti gli spazi con la luce, in quanto le nuove aperture interne sono contrapposte agli infissi esterni esistenti ottenendo passaggi di luce ed aria diretti. I materiali utilizzati negli arredi sono, noce, pannelli laccati di bianco e pannelli di metallo laccato a mano, i bagni sono rivestiti con cementine colore su disegno. La terrazza è rivestita in lastre di gres, le pergole sono realizzate in collaborazione con Pratic ed hanno una copertura in lamelle mobili.
