Tales in Glass
Milan / Italy / 2026
On the occasion of Milan Design Week, Gallotti&Radice celebrates its 70th anniversary with Tales in Glass, an exhibition that tells the story of the brand’s heritage, its artisanal excellence, and its ongoing exploration of glass as a living material. Hosted in the historic Palazzo Meli Lupi di Soragna, the exhibition project is conceived as a journey through time, where archival pieces and new design visions intertwine in a cohesive narrative. Glass is the common thread and true protagonist, capable of renewing itself without losing its essence.
Structured in three chapters—past, present, and future—the project unfolds through key moments in the brand’s history. The past evokes the company’s roots, with its pioneering use of glass and the introduction of the metal joint, conceived as a functional element and later becoming a defining stylistic signature. The present reflects the evolution of material research and the development of a total living vision, where glass engages in dialogue with different materials and takes shape through refined finishes. The future comes to life through previously unseen pieces conceived by six international designers—Valentina Cameranesi Sgroi, Ivania Carpio, Estudio Persona, Rania Hamed, Fumie Shibata, and Miminat Shodeinde—invited to engage with the company’s heritage and reinterpret it through diverse cultural and design perspectives.
Designed by French architect Sophie Dries, the exhibition unfolds in dialogue with the palace’s historic architecture. Conceived as a soft layer that both envelops and dresses the space, it develops through a scenography of glass, textiles, and ropes, guiding visitors along a continuous journey across different temporalities. She was entrusted with shaping a universal and collective narrative through an installation that combines timeless elegance with contemporary creativity.
On display are several emblematic pieces from Gallotti&Radice’s history, including Adam (1971) by Luigi Massoni—the company’s first table entirely made of glass, positioned at the entrance as a symbolic gesture and sign of welcome—alongside the T35 Trio (1975) by Pierangelo Gallotti, an icon of the brand’s language that introduced the metal joint into the collection, the timeless Riki trolley (1971), also by Pierangelo Gallotti, and the President desk (1971) by Studio G&R.
Tales in Glass takes shape as an open narrative in which memory and experimentation, identity and transformation coexist, celebrating the continuity of a vision that for seventy years has found its expressive language in glass.
“Glass is part of who we are and, over the years, it has become our alphabet— the language through which we give shape to ideas, a pencil for drawing space. Because glass never stops speaking: you just have to know how to listen to it.” Silvia and Massimo Gallotti, Marco Radice
Three chapters, one protagonist: glass
The Tales in Glass project was conceived to celebrate 70 years of history and craftsmanship—a milestone that pays tribute to the company’s identity and heritage. Glass is the material that has always marked the chapters of Gallotti&Radice’s story, becoming the medium through which this narrative takes shape.
The location: Palazzo Meli Lupi di Soragna
Located at Via Daniele Manin 13, in the heart of Milan, Palazzo Meli Lupi di Soragna is a historic residence just a short walk from the Indro Montanelli Gardens and the Quadrilatero della Moda. A refined example of Milanese aristocratic architecture, it now hosts cultural events and exhibitions. On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, it welcomes Tales in Glass, becoming the setting for a journey that brings together architectural memory, glass, and contemporary vision.
