Developed as a brand-new hotel concept, Mua Mua will first open as a temporary Tom Dixon takeover during Salone, before welcoming guests as a fully operational hotel to the public following the fair. This marks a natural evolution of Dixon’s approach to Milan, continuing his move beyond traditional exhibition formats.

This year, he occupies a 12-room micro hotel (Mua Mua) at Via Aosta 2. Designed by Tom Dixon’s interior agency, Design Research Studio (DRS), the space will be transformed into a fully immersive environment. The Mua Mua Hotel sits within the historic Mulino Estate, a creative site with strong architectural heritage. Originally designed in 1929 by Chiodi and Gio Ponti for the Sordelli family, the property has been under the care of the Virga family since 1955.

Launching in stores from 1st September 2026, the AW26 collections explore materiality and form across the brand’s core categories. Presented room by room, the pieces are integrated into everyday settings, creating a more natural connection between exhibition, retail and hospitality. A NEW CHAPTER: MUA MUA HOTEL Tom says: “As you may have noticed we have inhabited museums and monasteries, occupied cinemas and tunnels, and for the last five years, we even created a proper restaurant. So, after all that we asked ourselves again WHAT would be the OPTIMUM space to inhabit, to design and to launch during the Milan Salone? Well, we are going to tell you: that it would be a HOTEL.

Absolutely optimum because it's the place where you eat and meet, where you sleep and work, from which you explore the city and come back to unwind, or experience unexpected encounters with old friends or schedule the killer meeting. It's home away from home. A business lounge. 24-hour room service. Reunite with old friends or experience unexpected encounters, where the concierge is co-conspirator. A spa, a workspace, a gym. And not least the biggest topic before Milan — ‘where will you stay?’ So, we will create the Mua Mua Hotel, a micro bijou hotel with just 12 rooms, which we will share with some exciting partners, soon to be revealed, who share a love for placemaking and creating alternative narratives in design and interior architecture. More than just a few days of commerce during the crazy week of Salone, our objective is to initiate a longer-term vision, using design to create permanence and regeneration.
