This apartment for a married couple and their dog is located in a new residential complex in the Podil district of Kyiv. Its emotionally rich, detail-oriented interior reflects the owners’ character – their style, personality, and boldness.

“At the stage of selecting stylistic references and key ideas, the clients opened many doors for creativity. And as authors, we didn’t limit ourselves,” says Daria Loban, designer and co-founder of HE.D Group.

To ensure the space matched the couple’s lifestyle, the designers completely reimagined the developer’s original layout. The heart of the apartment is a large open studio – a place for hosting friends and spending time together. The traditional TV zone was replaced with a decorative fireplace crowned by a large vintage mirror. Candles can be lit in the fireplace niche, while the mirror adds depth and character to the room.

Since the owners rarely cook or dine at home, they didn’t need extensive kitchen worktops. Instead, they wanted a cosy setup with a bar counter – a comfortable spot for mixing cocktails and chatting with loved ones.

Both clients work remotely and spend most of their day at home, so creating comfortable workspaces was essential. For the jewellery designer behind Pylypenko Handmade, the solution was a full-fledged workshop designed as a classic study. Its pastel and mint palette, paired with light wood, sets a soft, calm, creative tone. Her partner’s workspace, designed for IT work, is more compact and integrated into a living room bookcase to meet his day-to-day needs.

The private part of the home follows a thoughtful logic: the bedroom, walk-through dressing room, and bathroom form a unified master suite – secluded, cosy, and functional. The apartment also includes a guest bathroom with a shower and a utility room with a laundry area.

Stylistically, the interior blends refined French classics with vibrant eclecticism. Classic cornices, symmetry, and delicate forms are reinterpreted in a contemporary way. Natural stone textures, minimalist porcelain tiles, American walnut veneer, and solid wood elements coexist harmoniously throughout the space.

The visual centerpiece of the living room is a burgundy velvet sofa. Its saturated hue stands out against the neutral walls and natural materials, setting the emotional rhythm of the interior – like brightly painted lips against nude makeup.

This interior is about freedom and individuality. About bold contrasts of styles, textures, and accents. Every functional element is tailored to the couple’s lifestyle, while the layered textures invite closer inspection and reveal their personalities. “The result feels like a Parisian apartment infused with the modern character and energy of Kyiv – lively, sophisticated, and deeply personal,” says designer Daria Loban.
