Eternity | APOLLO Architects & Associates
Tokyo / Japan / 2025
Eternity is situated in a quiet, upscale residential enclave within central Tokyo. Occupying a 560-square-meter corner lot, the project was conceived as a hospitality-oriented residence where both the inhabitants and their guests can engage in creative pursuits. The exterior presents a rhythmic composition made possible by the corner site, with volumetric layers shifting and overlapping across each floor, while its appearance is defined by a closed facade designed with the utmost attention to security and privacy.
On the ground floor, the entrance approach runs alongside a continuous area of planting, passing a built-in garage. Beyond the entry, a reception lounge with an integrated wine cellar offers a luxurious space for welcoming guests. From here, the view opens onto an approximately seven-square-meter central courtyard, which spans four levels from the basement. Arranged around the courtyard are spaces including an art gallery and a master bedroom with en suite bathroom.
The basement guest lounge is accessible via an external entrance restricted to invited users. As one descends the approach stairway, a comprehensive entertainment space unfolds around the sunken courtyard: a gallery, a welcome lounge with a pool table, a guest living room, dining area, and kitchen space, a golf range, a mahjong room, a karaoke room, and a fitness area. A 200-inch screen with integrated audiovisual systems creates the perfect atmosphere for viewing films, while also providing a comfortable and convenient work-from-home environment.
On the second floor, the courtyard-adjacent family lounge is flanked by areas of greening scaled to different sizes, creating a lush, nature-integrated environment. The children’s rooms on this level also offer prime views into the courtyard. The third floor faces the courtyard area adjacent to the family lounge and incorporates a library that functions as a second living room, generating a dynamic progression of interconnected spaces.
The residence offers a space in the heart of the city that can be enjoyed by both residents and guests alike. Arranged around the distinctive central courtyard, the entire composition is dynamically interconnected, forming a residence with the layered complexity and richness of a small city.
