MINIMALIST RETAIL DESIGN WHERE THE SPACE STEPS BACK AND THE PRODUCT TAKES THE LEAD. Reggio Calabria / Italy / 2025
ANALYSIS
CURRENT STATE
The retail unit selected for the new Antura Accessori store was in poor condition at the time of intervention:
outdated finishes, an aged color palette, and a heavily worn parquet floor conveyed a visual identity far removed from contemporary retail design standards.
Despite this, the space included several pre-existing architectural elements—such as ceiling lighting, plasterboard shelves, and the back counter furniture—with a classical, almost Renaissance-inspired character. Due to extremely tight deadlines, these elements could not be removed and instead became part of a strategic design decision.
The challenge was clear:
to transform a compromised space into a clean, iconic, and brand-driven retail interior, while working within strict time constraints and optimizing what was already present.
CLIENT
REQUIREMENTS
Antura Accessori required the design and execution of a new retail store in record time, with a clear vision:
A minimalist retail interior that enhances product visibility
A space that feels iconic, elegant, and timeless
A layout that avoids visual overload and overcrowding
A store concept that keeps the focus entirely on the accessories
A flexible display system that allows frequent product rotation without redesigning the space
The client’s priority was a store that could become a scalable design reference for future retail locations.
PROJECT
SOLUTIONS
The interior design concept is based on a single, strong chromatic choice: mint green.
Rather than using multiple colors, the space was designed as a monochromatic retail environment, articulated through different materials, textures, and surface finishes to create depth and visual rhythm.
This approach allowed the store to remain visually calm while still being expressive and recognizable.
All display elements and supports were custom-designed in transparent plexiglass, creating the perception of floating products and reducing visual weight. The transparency of the displays ensures that accessories remain the absolute focal point of the store.
Pre-existing architectural elements—such as the ceiling lighting, the back counter unit, and plasterboard shelves—were retained due to time constraints, but carefully integrated and enhanced to align with the new color identity and overall design language.
A key strategic aspect of the project is the integrated storage within display units: each container was designed to discreetly hold alternative product color variations. This allows the store to remain orderly, elegant, and uncluttered, even as collections change over time.
The result is a clean retail space, adaptable, timeless, and highly efficient—ideal for brands seeking a strong visual identity without excess.
