La riqualificazione di una casa rurale in pietra tra memoria costruttiva e nuovi linguaggi architettonici. Rivolta d'Adda / Italy / 2024
The renovation project of this rural stone house combines traditional and contemporary elements to create a balance between past and present. The main façade has been reinterpreted with larch wood cladding, which divides the elevation into three horizontal bands. Vertically, the façade is defined by wooden slats interrupted by the window openings. The warm appearance of the timber contrasts with the industrial character of the external gallery, featuring a structure made of triple flat steel sections and a railing composed of metal rods.
Facing the main building, the renovated barn accommodates garages on the ground floor, while the upper level, beneath the reconstructed timber trusses, houses a striking concrete swimming pool lined with blue tiles, creating a fascinating contrast with the rustic architecture.
At the rear of the house, the original masonry of river stones and brickwork has been preserved, maintaining the building’s historic character. Inside, the ground floor contains the kitchen and living room, distinguished by Ceppo stone flooring in the kitchen and timber flooring in the living area. The bush-hammered exposed concrete ceiling is enriched with circular gold inserts, creating an intriguing contrast with the sobriety of the materials. A concrete staircase clad in wood leads to the upper floors, where white walls brighten the interiors and contrast with the warmth of the oak flooring. The first and second floors are connected by a staircase with a white-painted steel structure and timber cladding.
The intervention enhances both the historic character of the building and the integration of modern elements, enriching the spaces while ensuring functionality and comfort.
