Paraty / Brazil
“Incorporating such a complete program into a limited plot was a true challenge,” remarks Dado Castello Branco about this beachside home in the Laranjeiras Condominium, in the historic town of Paraty, Rio de Janeiro.
A seamless extension of its surroundings, the house blurs the boundary between the deck and the shoreline. The studio’s signature elegance shines through in the light-filled, expansive circulation spaces. “The architectural volume strikes a perfect balance of stone, wood, and glass, while the interiors feature a curated mix of Brazilian and Italian furniture, such as the armchairs by Vico Magistretti and Patricia Urquiola,” notes the architect.
A sculptural, sinuous staircase leads to the upper level, enhancing the home’s architectural rhythm without yielding to excess. Rodrigo Oliveira’s landscaping reconnects the house to nature, creating an effortless dialogue between architecture and the surrounding environment.
